because copper is some magical mystery metal that will destroy them? and please point to some brake components that aren't an alloy? are we running iron rotors and calcium pads now? i've used it on all sorts of cars and never had a problem

theres also some other anti-squeel stuff that comes in a spray can, that's a purple goo that works too

it has the anti-squeal grease, was put on the new shims when they were installed.

r32 gtr alloy calipers too, i think they'll be fine.

i'm about to lose it with this car.

I just installed brand new discs (DBA 4000's), brand new OEM pads, with shims and the copper grease mentioned above between the shims.

Within 5 minutes!!!! of driving it was squealing (really loud!!) again, i really don't see how this is possible... the calipers were recently rebuilt with the pistons all machined as well, could there be some issue with the caliper housing as that's the only part of this whole system that hasn't been replaced... like warped or something and it's holding the pad on the disc/preventing it from retracting? causing a glaze or heat buildup etc... They seem to retract fine when you push them back to put the pads in.

have you seen a brake setup off the same car somewhere else? are their any retaining clips or anything you're missing?

I've seen people grease the retaining pins to shut them up too (although i'd be worried about them coming out)

I assume you cleaned up the new rotors before you put them on?

yes, cleaned new rotors with brake cleaner first before installing... i have all the required pins/clips/springs etc... the pins are held in by a clip that goes through them... i could try to grease them up?

Brake lube on the pins would help I reckon.

any other ideas of what it COULD POSSIBLY be? i'm tearing my hair out on this one.

On the weekend, i took it all apart again, new anti squeal grease (copper grease) in between the shims and a bit of the back of the shims at the piston contact point, i installed brand new retainer clips, greased up the pins with caliper grease... made almost no difference. this is on brand new discs and pads that have done less than 100km, calipers rebuilt a few months ago, even had the pistons removed and machined on the OD, this just shouldn't be happening, it's a deafening scream.

Could it be a problem with the caliper housing itself? warped/bent etc? (they look fine?), there's no adapter plates, they're bolted directly to the hub/knuckle. Standard R32 GTR Sumitumo calipers - similar to wrx/rx7/silvia/skyline/300zx calipers (same pad/design). Looking for any other possible cause/solution.

Chamfer the pads on the leading edge contacting the rotor on about the same angle bendix uses.

Drive the cunt out of it my slotted rotors squealed for the first few hundred kays I have bendix ultimate pads so the chamfer is already there then it went away. The pads don't have backing plate anti squeal shims on my calipers but I have new calipers so new abruptement shims which help with squeal even with new pads rotors calipers and bearings the slots still squealed for the first few hundred kilometers.

Ps: When I say new I mean brand new oe calipers straight from pbr's machines.

Strange question, is this drum in disc for handbrake? And are you 100% certain the noise is coming from the front? Been caught a few times with the handbrake shoes squealing, mainly on TE Magnas.
Also how well are the brakes bedded in? When I did a pads and rotors on my Voyager, Brembo replacement rotors and Bendix titanium pads, I followed their instructions and the brakes sounded like metal to metal. Took it out and rebedded the brakes properly, and they were perfect. Pretty funny sitting at the lights on the way back from bedding them in and having smoke wafting from the wheels, had to rebleed the fluid as well as I pretty much cooked them.

could you give this a shot since nothing else is working for you ...
remove the factory backing shims altogether and spray the back of the pad with wurth anti squeal , give it a couple of coats with 5 mins between applications , refit the pads without the backing shims.
