    Basic scantools

    Anybody had experience with the cheap scan tools that you need to use with a computer (rather than standalone)

    I was going to go down this path, but bought a cheap $56 Ebay spec stand alone job that works just fine.

    I've got one similar to that, was about $17 delivered.
    Works great with my android phone and the Torque software for real time data scanning on my LS1, but not sure how good it is for reading trouble codes. There was a thread around here somewhere suggesting that codes weren't showing up in the Torque software even with a check engine light. That's more likely a software problem than an adapter problem I suppose.
