Wheels (aluminium): Best way to strip paint

Ok guys, I've got a set of Simmons V4's that I've taken apart and I want to strip paint off the centres.
Currently, they have a coat of spray can black on them which is easily coming off, and the original factory green paint underneath.

The idea at this stage is to assemble them with stripped, unpainted aluminium centres, possibly with a clear coat over it if its required to prevent oxidisation etc etc (i.e. I want a matte silver in the centre, and chrome lips).

    Two questions:
    1. What is the cheapest way to get rid of the paint without damage to the metal (paint stripper or sandblast)?
    2. What clear coats do people recommend (or are they more or less all the same) keeping in mind I don't have any special compressor type tools (do clear coat spray cans exist)?

I was a little concerned that sand blasting will damage the aluminium. Also, I have no idea if putting clear coat on the aluminium will introduce a shine to it (ideally, I want the centers as matte as possible).

Any suggestions to help a noob out?

Yeah I was looking up paint stripper, and came across something the seppos call "aircraft stripper", but as you said, you really need shitloads of patience to scrape off the paint (especially considering the number of crevices that exist on the wheels). Anyone gotten a high pressure hose to it?

Sandblasting aluminium is ok then? I have briefly read that sandblasting can imprint lots of dimples in the metal due to the media used....

Bead blast, not sand blast at the lowest workable pressure...medium grit.

With a respirator if doing it dry.

Someone mentioned using paint stripper and put plastic on it to make it work harder,
then blast with high pressure cleaner to remove.

I wouldn't use sandblasting with garnet, maybe baking soda or other medium on low pressure?

Be careful with paint stripper on aluminium. It could blacken it.

Don't sandblast the centres unless theyre going to be powdercoated or painted. Sandblasting will leave the wheels with a rough gritty surface like cast alloy. Bead blast or soda blast would be the go.

Just did some Wedsports 15's with medium grade glass bead, 90psi, came out perfect.

Either use glass bead or walnut shell.

And in a cabinet. If you don't, you are a fucking retard.
