993 Carrera Vortech V1 blower kit

A friend has a 993 Carrera 3.2 and just bought a 2nd hand Vortech V1 blower kit with a big intercooler and what seems like all the piping, pulleys etc.

How tough are the motors in these, will they handle some boost? Its an auto too, will the box take a bit of abuse? Will the standard injectors be big enough to run maybe 7-10psi?

I noticed the box of parts was missing any form of engine management, whats the go with these? Just wire up a new Haltech or do they need something special because air cooled Beetle engine?

    Is it a 993 (1994-1997) or Carrera 3.2 (1983-1988)?

I suppose I should get my facts straight before I ask these questions...

    Its a 1997 993 Carrera cabriolet with a 3.6L "Vario" engine. Dunno where I got 3.2 from.

Just asked him and he suggest ditching the manifold for an early 993 black one? Bolt everything on and away you go. Motor and box will take 10 psi no problem according to him.

Hah yeah a manual would have been nicer. Im pretty sure he bought a 930 a couple days ago. Doesnt make sense to buy a 930 then boost a mint 993 does it? Whatever...

Im suss on the general quality of the Vortech kit he bought, its going to need some work to set it up right. Still cant find a great deal of info about management options, Ive been trawling Porsche forums but havent come up with much.
