Whatís so special about the new regs that people are scared of Renault? Arenít the new engines gonna be basically the same with the MGU-H removed?

If thatís the case, Renault were still 2 years behind on their HCCI, they missed the boat entirely on oil burning and they still donít have party mode for qualifying.

My money is still on Mercedes to produce the best engine. AMG are the engine whisperers. Not Renault.

I think what scares people is Renault have come back at the tail end of the current rules with an acceptance of being less than competitive. But with a outward message of having a 5 year plan.

I suspect they were quite happy to stall the PU upgrades to put RB into a position where they either 100% commit to Renault or they GTFO.

I also think Dan got a pretty good picture of how the chassis and engine teams can work together in the Renault team, heís probably seen next gen PU data and gone ďfuckĒ.

Iíve been firmly convinced that the dick swinging over at RB with respect to their engine partner for the past 3 seasons has cost RB money and results. I keep coming back to F1 being a team sport and the team needs to be so 100% behind the objective that even small disharmonious events cost places.

Sure Renault has fucked their end of the rules, but being bollocked by RB and then having RB even rebadge the engine and have a 3rd party wave a magic wand over it as it goes into the chassis would make any supplier go FU, lets just sit on our upgrade for 18 months.

Iíd be pretty sure the delays are a game at Fuck You RB and now they have a top 6 driver, and a solidly competent number 2 with Hulk and RB has finally signed to Honda I expect theyíll start showing the promise this season. Letís face it why wouldít they just roll stuff out now into their chassis because RB have already started to play the ďit doesnít fitĒ game...

I think we will see more strong top 10 results from Renault this season and RB will slide back with more DNF and CBF results.

I'm no diehard F1 fan but I think there is a fair chance Renault is sandbagging with the current car. Any systems that they can use with the new rules will be recieving development and anything that doesn't help the next gen car will be left behind.

Just listened to the Christian Horner beyond the grid thing. Why the fuck are we only hearing now that multi 21 was payback for Brazil (2012) the year before? That changes everything.

Seb and Fernando fighting for the title in the final race of the year. Mark is under instructions to do everything he can to help Seb. At the race start Mark squeezes Seb against the wall and he drops a place, then gets hit at turn 4 by Senna, turned around and had to fight back from last. I remember watching it at the time as one of the most epic races ever but that little move by Mark was definitely against what the team orders were so I am not surprised Seb acted out in Malaysia 2 races later (albeit in a whole new season)

Sounds like MGU-H could be hanging around, apparently all the engine manufacturers want it to stay.

Especially since the upgrades weren't going to aid Renault too much at this stage. Chassis not at a point where any PU power upgrades were going to aid them move up in the WCC.

Renault withholding development parts is a bullshit theory. They will want to race test them as soon as they can. Sand bagging until the time is right is just another engine failure in the making.

On the other hand Honda can smash though as many upgrades and experiments as they may in the back of an STR, because nobody gives a fuck about how far back on the grid they are........then next year RBR get a reliable working power unit.

It was never really blasted out as a major story, but it's been aired/quoted before.

I would of given anything to see Webber (or Ricciardo) win a WDC, but the former was guilty of consistently letting his team mate get to him. Seb was faster, you were a cunt in Brazil, you dropped it cold in Korea and never was the same racing driver.

and yes, I'm a Vettel fan boy admittedly.

Maybe brazil 2012 was payback for Turkey 2010, or GB 2010, or Suzuka 2007.

Maybe, but each of those cost one another the race. Brazil was time when Mark should have 100% helped Seb win a WDC.

As much as I'm a Weber fan if the way Horner explains it is right (don't have any reason to doubt him) then that was a dog act from Weber. If you're out of the championship and the last race is the decider, then you might not go out if your way to help but you don't actively try to sabotage his race.

I'm sure Mark doesn't see it as a "dog act" but Dave Warner probably thought getting Cameron Bancroft to sandpaper the ball wasn't a dog act either......

I think Australian sportspeople do take on a peculiar view to their own efforts compared with what they might find acceptable from their competitors.

Yeah um Webber had a Ferrari on the outside what exactly did you expect him to do. Stop dead to allow Vettel up the inside and they'd all be taken out.

Let's take a moment to celebrate the one time Webber managed to get the car off the line.

There is a Rumour that foxtel will be announcing a sport's only streaming package tomorrow. Said to launch in November for the cricket. Assume details of price and channels in the package etc will be given when announced. Might be a viable option for F1, supercars etc

Won't be viable with my shitty interwebs unless it counts as data free on the tesltra mobile network.

Then it could be viable depending on cost.

No idea, who knows how true it is to start with. It could just be a cricket package like optus is doing with the soccer rights they have

If this includes F1 and Supercars Iíd be super keen. Not interested in paying for all the other shit I donít have time to watch these days is the main reason why I donít have Fox yet.

Sports is $29 free install and no lock in anyway. Also includes the Foxtel now app which streams everything you have access to.

Yeah if it's HD 1080p minimum then I could go for it at $29/month. I'll just get it for the F1 season and tell'em to fuck off for the remainder and add it back the following season.
