I had one just like that about 15 years ago and loved it. Is yours live-axle?

Awesome - looks like a really clean unit. They're a lot of fun with 3.9 gears, LSD and a cam

The RS had been playing up a it when out on the track, sounded like it was dropping a cylinder.
It would perform like normal, but when halfway through the second lap it would drop in power and sound like it was on three cylinders.
So the plan was to change out the spark plugs, ditch the original coil on plug set up, and mount some Bosch coils I had found in a heap of spare parts I had accumulated.
Bought me a soldering iron, found a step by step DIY on line and got into it.
Hardest part was finding a spot to mount the coils with out having to drill holes, but all came out well.
Result.....problem solved, no more dropping out👍

    Out with the old

The paint on the RS has been starting to show some wear and tare, the All Jap car show is this weekend in Newcastle, so i figured i'd have a go at some paint correction.
I bought myself a DA polisher, some Menzerna products, watched youtube for educational points and got stuck into it.
I have to say these DA polishers are awesome. Having only ever hand polished cars for the last 20 years, results are fantastic.

Haven't been doing any track days lately as the front CV's have been a bit suspect.
New ones ordered through Bursons, $165 each, sounds reasonable to me.

Yep can get genuine for 1/4 of what they used to be. Also if itís wrecking shafts consistently could be driving style or something else causing it? Itís taken a lot of effort to snap mine

GNGBNG: I wish you'd posted asking for shafts, I gave away a full OEM set to match your car last month.

Had the usual bolt ons ie td05 20g etc.
    Was an auto for nopics.

It was killing the outer cvs.
Had the ~25mm lift in for a while and killed them
    Tried lowered ~25mm same same.
Both done with springs so nothing too extreme

Did kill one trying to scare shit out of bogan mate lol.
By stalling up to ~4k before letting go of brake.

Fixed it by selling the vehicle we still miss it

My shafts haven't snapped, they're just getting clicky and have a vibration on over run. They are the original shafts (286,000kms) but the last 20,000kms has seen some hill climbs and track days thrown into the mix, so the driving style is a bit harder on the car than usual.

New front driveshafts in, left and right. Problem fixed, no more vibration/rattle on overrun.
Was a lot easier to do than i thought, a leisurely 3 stubby job.

My exhaust has developed a hole around the flex join, so rather than have it repaired, get a whole new cat back system.
I bought the Invidia Q300 system, it is designed for the 01-07 WRX's, so i'll have to get my exhaust guy to modify the hangers and connect to the x-force dump pipe.

Invidia sounds like something sailors may have contracted whilst on shore leave in SE Asia during WW2.
