    VP Senator 5000i

Well, one VP left the garage and what do you know, I regretted it. So I jump on gum tree yesterday and see this up for sale. Did my checks, spoke to the owner and paid my deposit. It's coming to brisbane very soon.

    Some details
    93 VP II Senator 5000i
    220,000kms
    Books and history
    I am the 3rd owner
Needs paint and minor rust repair
Stock standard apart from exhaust and stereo.
Has factory air box which will be fitted.

Pretty stoked as I think I got a good deal.

Won't be doing anything to it other then finding original stereo and repaint it.

No drop tank. Car is stock besides cat back aftermarket headunit.

Very different. The previous clubsport was special because it was a 5th anniversary. But that's only cosmetic on the non 5000i edition. So it was a basic 180kw clubsport in a different trim.

This car is a senator 5000i. It is different in trim/ engine/ specifications to a standard senator and clubsport. the 5000i comes with forged pistons/ roller rockers/ hydraulic cam/ more compression and power compared to the others. Also comes standard with Devinish bucket seats and upgraded brakes. The clubsport 5000i received the grpA 4 bolt mains bitten end.

Ah memories. My username is from my car at the time, HSV Senator 5000i no 136/136. Canterbury blue. The car had a heap of mods though including a 355ci motor. Was a lovely car.

Yours looks good for the kms. Is it the pics that indicate a non standard colour? Is it actually Senator Quartz (deepish purple)?

Wow, I thought I had seen every colour available on a 5000i but not seen this colour before. I would contact HSV to confirm but I'm guessing this is the only one in this colour. Unlike the regular VP Senator, all 5000i were originally meant to be Senator Quartz but quite a few ended up in different factory colours. I always thought Empire Red was more solid.

If you ever want a VT clubbie that is neat as and 100% orig (other than custom ally rad), let me know.

Expected you to get another boganic VP just not so soon haha

Knew the Gts got leftover 4 bolt bottom end basically what SV5000 had with large O port heads..silly sized exhaust ports with group a headers that
an easy fix is get a mate to drive in front of you at 60 then 80 then 100 and mark in on your speedo with some liquid paper.

This is the only other empire red senator I've known about and it's not a 5000i

That's the colour I was picturing, must just be your photo that makes it appear different. However I have still never seen a 5000i in that shade of red and I used to watch these closely. Other than the usual two shades of Senator Quartz and 5th Anniversary light blue, I've seen one other Canterbury blue version before I bought mine, it had grey Recaro leather seats. Past that I've seen 5000i in white, flat red and that aqua green colour. Can't recall any others off the top of my head but it was a long time ago.

I'm waiting for more info from hsv and will update. I've never seen another 5000i in this colour either.

I thought that would be the case, good score! It should be nice after you paint it and sort the seats.

September 93? That's interesting in itself, I'd have thought VR production would be underway by then.
