I took the Gumby nudge bar off the front as well because gumby. Standard height and rake makes baby 4wd gods sad though.

Looks much better with the nudge bar off. Wonít take much to get it it very capable and looking good.

Yeah hopefully soon. Did a couple of little things on the weekend. Found that the air inlet to the Trubro was munted and may have been letting some unfiltered air into the compressor as the hard plastic commonly goes to shit. Fix online is to replace with silicone hose. The cracked section was at the bottom so cant see until its off.

The tow rating and power/torque are hard to beat at the price thats for sure.
Id been looking for awhile and tge seeet spot seemed to be arounf 10k for something with around 180k on it. Saw cheaper with high ks.
Worth reading up on common faults and fixes but the normal CRD stuff for most cars applies. Catch can and EGR delete etc. The earlier ones 05-08 iirc didnt have a DPF so thats a bonus and all CRD from 05-08 had Quadra Drive 2 standard and it then became an option. Most people want QD2 and its better for resale if you care.
Easiest way to tell if it has QD2 is by looking at the rear diff housing. Standard open diff has 10 bolts on the rear cover and QD2 locker has 12 bolts.

make sure you stag paste the new hose/adapter whatever at the turbo inlet. the oil dripping from there is the reason the swirl port motors let go.

where did you get the catch can from? i require something similar for landroverness

Got it from Egay. There's two from this seller one with a paper filter element that requires replacing or this one for $10 more with a washable and reusable stainless element that makes more sense. Also has a built in pressure releif.

I like that colour. Worth checking it out.
Had mine out on the nopics families farm at Cowra today. Put it into a couple of spots getting wheels off the ground to test out the QD2 diff locks. Well fuck me its crazy how well they get it moving.
    Lift needed badly though.

I remember when these came out with the QD2, Pewe called it a game changer. Iirc they were the among the first with the trick traction aids that actually worked.

Pretty sure other cars have had cross axle diff locks before? Or only after market at that point?

Not to the same level as the Jeep system, which used both the traction control and hydro LSD front and rear.

From my research, there seems to be a fair few minor fiddly (trim and shit) that goes wrong, rarely a major breakdown. My major goal with this is towing a 3ish tonne enclosed to and from the track.

Iíll go check out that one tomorrow

Well took it out to Cowra and back and then 1 week of city commute to work and averaged 9.9 l per 100. Not bad for a 2100 kilo brick.

Some dude in a FJ Cruiser keeps wanting to race me on the way to work.
He keeps losing. Specialolympicsstillatardetc.jpg not sure why i bite but yeah...
Other than that its been going well. Only thing i have had to do is make my own transmission dipstick as they dont have one from factory (thanks Mercedes) and they are apparently quite susciptable to weirdness if the levels wrong. I found out it was overfull a tad after going up a long hill and Tranny fluid came out the dipstick tube.

Haha yep. When i fixed the trasmission leak i topped it up with 2 liters as it was leaking bad and with no dipstick had no idea how low it was.
It didnt do it for werks just one loooong hill where it heated up enough to do it. Goes straight onto Turbo and hot zorst making a James Bond smoke screen as well.

Do you know if the transmission has band adjustments like old school boxes?

This little vid shows how the factory Quadra Drive 2 Lockers kick in. Keep it moving where something with open diffs and no articulation would be left hanging.
