That's a great impulse buy! I've seen it run at Noosa Hillclimb the last couple of years. It's a fast machine. Looks and sounds good too. Enjoy!

Find an account called "Petal911" on instagram. It belongs to David Withers, who has been racing Porsches since the late 80s. I'm sure he'll have a picture somewhere.

Took the intake pipe off yesterday to remove the stupid BOV. He who can weld did his thing and welded on a small section of plate so if I need to set up a boost reference port later on I can drill and tap it.
Oh and he rolled a bead in the end of the pipe to help stop the pipes from blowing off.

Next plan it get it on a dyno to check the tune. While we are there Iíd like to see if we can set some 2 step up. The V88 should run it but I need to work out the best way of triggering it. Clutch pedal switch maybe?
Oh and it needs less muffler.

Sorry, I should have been clearer - I meant he might have a picture at home. He's been racing Porsches, including Porsche Cup/Nations Cup since the 80s.

He's late 70s, so I don't expect him to have his life on instagram yet!

Just got back from the dyno after checking the tune before the 800mtr event. My go to guy Benny from Benchmark solutions stayed back for me after hours to get the car on the rollers. We started out with 303rwkw and after him fixing up the drivability of the car we did a couple of power runs. In the end we came out with 334RWKW or 447RWHP so about 700USRWHP. The key here is we picked up 150nm to torque in the midrange. With a new turbo and bigger injectors there is probably another lazy 50RWKW floating around but whatever.
Once the 1/2mile thing is done Iím going to pull it down and clean up all the old shit floating around and look at a WTA intercooler set up for it. The current intercooler is pretty bunky.

LOL I rolled onto it in 2nd as I entered a on ramp last night and it spun so quickly it bounced off the limiter before I had a chance to up shift. Iím not sure if Iím just used to slow cars again or itís a bit fast.

yep big upright windshield, rain gutters, large frontal area- the old girls don't slip through the air quite so easily.

Scary when a Jeep wins a top speed run. Must be making some serious stonk.

My day started off with working out how to get the car off the line. I found simply side stepping the clutch at 6,000rpm was pretty good as it sat the car down over the tyres but there was still LOTS of wheel spin in 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th .The 295 A050ís are new but the surface wasnít the best for grip after the 400mtr mark. It was a fairly level playing field though as bigger power cars couldnít get the power down at the deep end either.
The issue I had is the car clearly has a hill climb gear set in it with a 1:1 5th. I was kind of wondering how this would go. Turns out I was hitting the 7,000rpm limiter in 5th at the 400mtr mark. Not so good at a 800mtr event but it did grip in 5th at least so I rolled off the throttle and held it as best I could at 6,800rpm. This was pretty hard as the track is bumpy enough that my foot would bounce and Iíd hit the limiter again.
Anyway first run was a 18.8427@229.7. I tried less revs of the line for the next run but it just turned the tyres even harder coming onto boost. There was a couple of cars in my class but the one I knew would be fast was a 512ci Gen2 Camaro that had come second at roll racing a couple of weeks ago. Robert knows how to peddle a car so I knew it was going to be tight. He has power for days, I have less weight. Come lunch time he was 1/100th of a second ahead of me after 4 runs.
Just before lunch Roberts best mate Arthur in a 565RWKW 911 had an off at the deep end and popped his windscreen out spinning around on the dirt at 200kph+ so that was his day done. He was a very lucky boy the car didnít go over.
When he came back to the pits I went over to him to see if he was ok or needed anything. He was fine and the car had almost zero damage on it other than needing a new screen and a good vacuum. It was then that Robert and I compared times working out what the split was.
At this point Robert said I should use Arthurs ET Streets. Arthur was up for it right away walking over and getting them out of his ute. What a pair of champions!
The rolling diameter was quite a bit taller with a 45 over my 30 sidewall. Arthur jumped in and gave me a hand getting them on the car as I had to move an oil line to get them to fit.
Then it was on! Robert headed out the car before me and ran an 18.60. I was the car right after him so lined myself up in his black tracks and let it go at 6k the tyres still spun in the first four gears but markedly less so. I ran a 18.5044@238kph. The good thing tho was the extra rolling diameter gave my jus the legs I needed hitting the limiter just before the finish line. As we got back to the pits there was an oil down and a delay. It was pretty clear we would only get 1 more run in.
Robert pulled the mufflers off his car and I tapped up my rain rails.

We lined up again in the same order and waited. Rob going first running what looked like a nice clean pass. This time I side stepped the clutch at just under 7k and did my best to get every shift perfect. The tyres being cleaner after last run there was more grip to be had with less slip in each gear. Normally you get a time text pretty much as you reached the return road. But this time nothing. I drove back to the pits and pulled up next to Rob waiting for it. He had run an 18.9 and I got text to say Iíd run an 18.1061@235.8.
So that was that we shook hands and had a good laugh about the day. Very much what grassroots motorsport should be about.
I bought their group a beer at the dinner that night and thanked them again.

    Couple of photos.
    The rig.

The boys had had a big day.

    Not the last I hope.
