^ Not quite, because the fact it's already driving with the $200 Kent means you don't need to spend that $20k to get it running.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Where abouts do you get your free petrol from mate?

A 6P58S battery will put out 128kW, cost $4000 and weigh under 100kg. And an escort with that sort of electric power would out accelerate a 300 hp Duratec by quite a margin. Range would be pretty low, but horses for courses, it would be fine for hill climbs and khanas. And I think an electric hill climb escort could run rings around an IC engined escort at a lower cost.

BTW I have first hand experience with a 305hp (crank) duratec engined mk1 escort, engine all up including ancillaries was well over $30k (by the way it shat itself in the first season and required a new block and rotating assembly), PPG RX7 dogbag (also shat itself - second season) and ran on Elf fuel which cost $6 a litre. What sort of electric drivetrain could Old Mate have purchased with that sort of coin?

If you are happy with a $200 Kunt engine then this thread is redundant.

Forg isn't talking about a 300hp duratec though, and it's Forg, it's not going to be a competition car...
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Yeah given that they spent $30k on a race car, it'd probably have been more like $60k to prep an electric car.
This car was never intended to be a race car OK back in the day we thought we might do one of the cheap versions of Targa Tasmania that were starting to pop-up, but it was always going to be a road car (and I think I'm even less disposed towards making everything more stressed & less user-friendly than I was then).

    .
the batterys are the energy storage 'device ' - like a fuel tank .

so should be in the mod costs

its the recharge cost vs the fuel cost that should be out side the modification cost

eww now ive posted in forg thread - off to see a shrink
