    VW parts interpreter?

Took the Golf in for a service last week and asked them to look at why the rear washer is dumping half its contents into the hatch. I mean, it's pretty obvious that the hose is split somewhere......I just wanted to know how much the repair is. They come back with either a repair kit or a replacement 'harness' for the hatch. The prices? $661 for the harness......or $640 for the repair kit.

Needless to say, I declined both options. I know there are a couple of euro car peeps on here........what I was wanting to know is what the repair kit consists of. Surely it can't involve much more than cutting out the split section, putting a coupler in each end and putting a new bit of pipe in?

Car in question is a Mk6 Golf R.

I am (amongst other things) a VW parts interpreter

PM me your VIN or the part numbers they've quoted. From memory, the stupid inflexible tubing they use for the washer splits, the repair is a section of the corrugated tubing and heatshrink to join the sections together. I haven't done service stuff for quite a few years though

Yeah, you can repair sections of it.

Unfortunately it's not widely known and no one can tell you exactly what bits you need.

I think they're suggesting to replace the whole washer hose from the pump right through the car to the squirter.

    Fuck. That. Shit.

yep, that rice is a full pipe. dirty fucks. repair sections are available but are a shit to id on etka.

they break at the hinge, pull the rubber back, and find the split and pop a joiner in it from repco.

quewastaken helped me out. Identified the connectors (~$18 a piece) then I just need some 4mm vac line. The "repair kit" alone is $177 which is the connectors, piece of hose and some heatshrink.

I had a voicemail from the service dept asking me to call them to give any feedback after the service......so I did and asked how on earth they can charge $464 labour and $177 for a handful of cheap parts. All she could tell me was that they're "parts direct from Germany and the technicians are specially trained".

    Sydney City.

I only went there because they gave me a $200 'goodwill' voucher when I asked VW why cost of the map updates increased by 1200%.

Do you mean SD card? If so, you don't need an SD card for the maps to work. Working on the assumption that you've got an RNS510.

if your using SD cards, the official line is only use vw. i can tell you that after numerous fuck ops, i mean tests, SANDISK EXTREME PRO SD UHS-I 32gb works 100% of the time.

    yes navteq, the fuckers.
