Tracks/camping in and around the ACT

Over the summer school holidays I'll be spending a couple of days punting around the ACT. Are there any good 4WD tracks and nearby camping areas? Relatively experienced in a 105LC with 2in lift and 33s. Will be solo.

Brindabella NP has been mentioned before but mostly gated off?

Not sure about the 4x4 aspects but the campgrounds are well doco’d on the ACT gov website.

Also a lot of the walking trails and parks along the Murrumbidgee corridor etc.

Wee Jasper is popular. I think it's just a camping ground though?

Also there's a big fire there at the moment near Pierces Creek so that mightn't be the nicest area to go!

Brindi's is fairly accessible. Lots of easy 4wd tracks to explore. (Low range but not hard core rock hopping shit). Flee creek and McIntyre's hut are pretty good spots to camp. (Long drops and near the river) or you could head up into long plain and blue water holes. Plenty of options really.

Thanks all. I was looking around Wee Jasper and then just winging it around the Brindi's.

Swill, any named tracks you'd recommend?

Mt Coree is easy and has a great view, only challenging bit is the final climb which is relatively steep with loose rocks. And I use the phrase challenging loosely, I went up in winter with snow/mud on the ground with ATs running highway pressures and I had no problems, albeit I did use low range with the rear diff locked but that's because my thing doesn't flex so it just bounces over stuff.

Not to sure of up around the Wee Jasper end, but there is plenty to explore up that end and into Tumut. The track id be looking at (according to a quick scan of google) are head up brindabella road to you get to Piccadilly Circus, turn right and head down the hill for a bit until you get to gentle Annie trail (if you hit the river you've gone to far) Follow Gentle Annie all the way down to Flea creek. From there up the other side following webbs ridge trail up and over past the power lines then turn left onto water fall trail, down the hill, then left onto McIntyres to the end. That is about half of the Brindi's done there. Its not a big place. If you can get on the other side of the river on the tumut side there plenty more, but take a map. Its all high country type terrain and good for a look

If you turn right at Piccadilly you’ll be on two sticks rd.

    Go straight through.

Maybe second right, down the hill, or you'll be heading to Mt Franklin? Either way it will be sign posted to Tumut. Follow that

Turn left at the second set of powerlines after Piccadilly Circus, interesting detour.

I'm guessing interesting as in, low range and lockers, and a winch, are probably a really good idea. Been so long since I've gone past Piccadily I'm not sure what track he's talking about, but it's fairly rough terrain in that area.

Don't have lockers but have winch. Wife's roster has completely stuffed up my plans. Not sure if I'll be able to do this at all this trip.
