Theyíre also seeing the money in Asia and thinking they can sell drives here (pent up demand of drivers over there without the money to run a team) and probably move into supporting cars in Asia for those same drivers long term.

Saw them run at Sepang a few times over the past few years and definitely a great series to watch with the cars maintaining distinct forms of their production counterparts.

Part of me is looking forward to Boost getting there hands on a REC itíll be like the second coming of Craig Gore.

Iím loving how TCR US cheaper to buy and run then a Supercar. No 100k engines here. Thatís a big long term issue that Supercars has to face. With a good number of teams struggling financially costs have to come down and not by 5% thatís just lip service.

The thing about TCR is you can pick up a car for say $60K euros, and race it anywhere in the world.

Over here, you could run one on less than $10K AUD a round. To lease one out, I'm told they're asking circa $30K a round. You could potentially pay the car off in a season.

Supercars needs to start implementing development caps, like what's seen in GT3, TCR, etc. You get one chance at the start of the year to submit a revised aero kit, engine tune, uprights, etc and that's it.

50k a round a Carrera Cup seat for arrive and drive last time I checked (which was a few years ago mind you). That makes TCR awesome value even if itís not on the Supercars undercard.

Stian Paulsen runs his car on fuck-all.

Set of pads and maybe discs every second round, rebuild the shocks twice a year. Everything else is just spanner checks and oil changes.

Some teams were throwing new pads and discs in every session, new clutch and rebuilt gearbag every meeting, fresh motor every couple of events. Big money doing it that way. Does it guarentee them podiums? I wouldn't think so.

The i30 N TCR in the hands of a meagre motoring journo went same time as Luffy in a GT3 RS?!

At SMP I'm guessing they'll be in the mid-high 30s. Won't be as quick as a super tourer, but not far off. The record for those was 1:34 back in '98.

Isn't he sponsoring some young female racer who failed to make the cut for Formula W?

The more cars the merrier - a grid of 25 of these would be cool.

If you had the means, wouldn't you buy a race car, and then race said race car?

You'll have to narrow it down. Only a quarter of those who tried out, made the cut.

A few names have been tossed about the place for various seats.

Molly Taylor in a Subaru, and Chelsea Angelo in one of the GRM cars, for example.

how good is that, 8 different manufacturers , and some decent professionals teams running the cars.
this should be a good stepping stone for youngsters wanting a career in touring cars oversea's. not everyone can buy a drive in super 2 and 3.

Morris needs to get one of these and get Diet Coke to sponsor him.

    No TCR beemer yet.

FWD 1-series will be the platform if it happens.

Fun fact: a couple of different mobs tried to get the ok to homologate the Mini, but BMW knocked them on the head.

Just about all of BMW's factory race cars are done in-house. The WSR BTCC cars seem to be a rare exception.

Yeah, I'd say they're keeping that one open so as to do it in house like they do with the GT cars.

There may or may not be TCR Honda at Bathurst today that may or may not feature a visit from Jenson Button. They may or may not be attempting to best the fastest FWD lap of the Mountain set by Rickarf Rydell in the S40 Super Tourer. Allegedly.
