    2019 Suzuki jimny/Sierra

    https://mr4x4.com.au/2019-suzuki-jimny-goes-off-road/

Love the look of these new things and would love one for a run about/weekend car. Any thoughts on these being capable off road?

Should be awesome off road if they are anything like the previous generations. With front and rear lockers they are unstoppable.

Own a 2015 and it’s very capable. This should be more so.

25-30k apparently. Hoping more around 25k for the manual.

Strangest thing but the 2005’ish version of these would rev at 4,200rpm in 5th at 110kph

I do 130kph daily in mine. It does rev, but because Suzuki doesn’t feel bad

Yep, you get used to the revs. No revs = no power, so it needs to be done. I wonder what the low range ratios will be like.

If the T-case is a carry over, or at least closely related, to the earlier one there's probably lower ratios available in the aftermarket.

Yeah they are in pretty high demand. I know the dealer here put in an order for 200 units that they wanted filled and supplied by December 2018 and got pushed pack to April end. No one wants to buy a 4x4 here at the end April as it’s the start of summer, but there are a fair few on back order already.

So $28990 manual plus paint either metallic $500 or 2 tone $1250
    $30990 plus paint

1100 coming to Australia this year - already some dealers are doing $33K +

When you consider top of the range wrangler is 68k it’s not bad buying really.

I actually think it is shit value for a modern Sierra. I love them, but they should be a sub 20k proposition.

They have SUV's in the 20k range. This thing would cost more than the "traditional" SUVs to build - live axles, proper transfer, ladder chassis etc, all parts that normal cars don't use. They also cant build them as shit as the original sierras were, so they should cost a bit more

I think its shit value also, and this comes from someone who's owned nearly every Zook from an LJ50 onward, 5k less and it'd be a different proposition.

Theres a whole lot of internet buzz from the photos and videos but in reality these will still be pretty basic, small vehicles that don't go all that quick. Most people will have a look, drive one and then go buy a Kia SUV or something.

I'd love to be wrong on this though.

5k less would have been bang on yep.
I think they are ok value, but would have been bang on at the current price with six speed manual or 5 speed auto etc instead

You'll get them for 25k in 12 months once the hype has died down.

Half the people that love the look, will hate the way a solid axle 4wd actually drives.

Yeah I feel they should have got a 6 speed auto and 6 speed manual at that price with the auto being slightly more.

    Yep, that's awesome pricing.

Pity it's 60cm too long for the Mini/Caterham spot in my garage!

Will have to buy a Caterham instead.
