    Should I buy a 2014+ Audi S3?

Looking at buying a new car. Has to have four doors, obviously it also needs to be fast. Would definitely prefer no older than 5 years old and relatively low kilometers.

    Budget is $35k.

2014-odd Audi S3 with S line package looks to be a good option. I like the S4's also but they seem to be a little out of budget unfortunately.

Something like this (photos are awful): https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/coop...dan/1216085871

Anything else I should be considering here?

Did you get your S3 tuned at all? They seem to respond very well to dump, intake and tune.

Have seen some sell for as low as $30k with 100k+ kms. Lot of car for the money although ideally I'd prefer around half that many kilometers. Not sure if I prefer the sedan or hatch at the moment. I think the sedan looks better but I do like the practicality of a hatch.

Can't help but like this also: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-5757840/?Cr=0

Definitely an option although I feel like the Audi interior is much nicer, especially in S line guise with the diamond stitched leather seats.

I had a 2015 s4 and a 2016 s3. The S4 was an awesome car but was a bit numb unless you were really pushing it. The s3 can make you giggle after a shit day at work on side streets at under 80kmh

On ramp shenanigans and smiles at 120kmh+, s4. Traffic light grand Prixs and giggles at 80kmh or less, s3. And a solid car in most other ways. Mine was the sedan (because it's all the US got), if it was a hatch I'd probably still have it but it just got a bit too tight after my son was in a full size rear facing car seat... Sloping roof and tight door opening made that difficult

A mate got one and traded it 8 months later for an Exige to exorcise the demons of blandness. He's a bit of a string back glove, all about the tactile sensation kinda guy though. I took it for a rip and it seemed fine to me.

Audi of that era were bulletproof too once they sorted all the DSG and oil control problems in about 2012.

My old one is at the dealer where I traded it:
    https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...AG-AD-17080840

i paid 61k for it new, got 29k as a trade about 5 weeks ago.

only non standard thing on it is the turbo muffler delete that I couldnít be bothered removing before trading it.

Interesting to hear a comparison from someone who has owned both. Were either tuned? The S4's seem pretty damn rapid with supercharger pulley upgrade and tune...

Which did you prefer overall? Living in the depths of Sydney it'll be hard to make full use of the S4.

Haha, fair enough although I normally play with superbikes for that kind of experience.

Damn, was about to say "Nooo, I'd have given you $30k for it no problem" but just realised no S line = no deal. The S line seats, harmon kardon sound, magnetic ride control, radar cruise, nicer wheels etc are actually big selling points for me personally.

    Looks pretty bloody clean though...

Spent a while last night watching YouTube videos of them. I want one. Used ones are down to about $60k here.. seem to be holding their value pretty well?

    People will tell you otherwise

But any car that has a factory option of wider front tyres to create a better handling balance is flawed in my opinion

    Tune adds cylinders.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Early ones did. They went alloy block from 2017 which fixed a lot of issues.

I quite like them but almost all of them around my area are driven at 80+ in 50 zones in second gear by fucktards so I could never actually buy one.

Pretty much every Audi I've driven up to and including the S6 has left me cold anyway. I think it's just the combination of AWD and auto, but they're pretty bloody boring.

2018 M2 Comp, 6spd, $98K - doesn't seem like a bad price for an ordered car? Pity no big brakes.

I think you're in the wrong thread, but yes.

That is exactly the spec I got a quote on down to the colour and the gearbox a few months ago, and it was $123k onroad.

I take it back too - there is one Audi I would actually own. S1! All manual, rare as anything and though probably worse than an S3 in every single way (including more expensive) way cooler.

Pity there's all of four available Australia wide, and three of them are white.

    https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/aud...srcx=makemodel

Why does no-one understand the only correct way to buy them is in red with the 80's style Quattro lettering down the side? 'Fire up the Quattro'.

I didnít realise what it was when I saw it, but I did see an A1 Quattro in Potsdam a few years ago. Cool as fuck, and Uber rare.

looked awesome in white with the black panel on the back.

I think iíve only ever seen 3 or 4 S1ís on the road, Iíd have one, but as you say theyíre $$$$$
