    Wanted: New Daily...

Not gonna lease my next car,
so I reckon I'll sell the Subie, and maybe the mrs' Accord, and get a new daily for me

    Ideally:

    1. Auto
    2. Good air con
    3. Fit a bike or two in the back (hatch/wagon)
    4. Not euro
    5. Run on RULP (no need to pay a premium for premium)

$5k or so, if its a crazy good deal I may stretch a little.

not too fussed what it is within those parameters, just looking for a good deal

Subie. Buy this before I do https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...6059228/?Cr=14

That was my choice for cheap and very practical.

We've had both Rav4 (2001/2014) and XT Forester (2004) in the family, both good cars, the Forester much nicer to drive and sound the best out of all the subarus exhaust note wise, but the Rav4 is a bit more durable body and drivetrain wise (non-turbo).

Space-wise i noticed the Forester front seats can't fold very far forward for awkward objects, where as the Rav4 will just fold until the seat touches the dash.

This thread is a long way from a modified V8...

I'd say subie for sure or AU on gas. Winning combo.

I had the same year Forester but in manual because I'm a man. Wasn't as exciting as the E92 M3 I bought after it but I always remember it fondly as a perfect round town car.

Even if you get regarded as a lesbian dog breeder, for a cyclist, I wouldn't mind buying that one again (auto so nopics can use it if her car breaks down - she commutes 70kms to work).

I had the 2006 liberty H6 3.0 wagon in 6sp manual, not sure if they have dropped to that price range yet but it was a hoot to drive and quite spacious.

Maybe look into a legnum, caldina, crown athlete or stagea too (I like uncommon cars). But that wouldn't meet your fuel octane requirements.

I used to have an AU sedan on factory gas, if you could get the wagon version it would be worth a look. It was a shitbox but it never stopped getting me from A to B.

Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I drove my mumís 10yo base 3 the other day; it was surprisingly unterrible, given itís just transport, and one of those is going to fit in your price range.

I have a 2007 Mazda 3 sedan Neo , meets most of your requirements except maybe bikes in the back, possible if back seats down...? Has roof racks so could put bikes up on top if you have/get the fittings

123,000 km, just had major service done at ultratune (120,000 - Air, Fuel, oil filters, plugs)
    6 mth rego

has a dented L/H/R door and dog leg/sill from a shopping centre car park pole and L/H hubcaps are scratched up (was mums car before I had it, she had it since new)

I've had it for 1 year, reliable, comfortable, fuel efficient...550km to a tank (50L) on E10 around town, no frills really but a good car.

PM if you're interested, I can take some pics of it. Located in Asquith (Hornsby) after 5pm/weekends or Belrose 8am-4pm
