    Wakefield Park under threat again?

    https://www.goulburnpost.com.au/stor...ld-park-noise/

Someone mentioned on crapbook that a certain councillor bought a property across the road and is one of the key people behind all this. Don't know how true this is or not. Apparently it's nothing to do with the nearby farmers who have been there for years.

Rather than support all the businesses and all the residents and all the tourists that this facility supports in the Goulburn area, Council seems to be supporting the minority few complaining about noise. If true about the councillor above then it's clearly putting their interests ahead of their constituents. Surely if true this should be grounds for sacking!?

Regardless it's about time minority groups got outlawed! So sick of decisions in this country being made for minority groups by moron politicians. Share this to any motorsport groups you know.

    Yeah, it's bullshit.

The local council knows full well the economical benefits the track brings.

Yeah Boz mentioned it when I was out there in March. Track management were taking static noise measurements of some cars on the day I was there as well.

Apparently the new complainant/s are something like 4 km from the track....

I'm about 7KM from Parramatta City Raceway and one some Saturday nights you can hear the Sprint Cars racing, I demand they close it down.

When I lived at Auburn in the heart of the red zone I could hear pretty much every meeting at Parramatta speedway. It was there before me, and had a sensible curfew, so no problem.

I can't understand the need for some people who come after a recreational facility of any kind has been running for years and the first thing they do is want to shut it down.

Queensland seems really good at this, lakeside and music venues in the valley are prime examples.

I’ve worked on a road just past Wakefield (just over a km away). We were filming with sound and the only thing that stopped us was planes from the airport, especially the skydiving planes. There was an open practice day on and our sound guy said it didn’t bother him enough to effect sound quality.

Guess they'd better ban quad bikes, tractors, and other vehicles on farms too.

Just remember logic won’t prevail here. If there was an airport next door they wouldn’t complain about it, Someone hates Motorsport and they probably have a bit of support from others and think they can get rid of it. Only way to prevent it from happening would be to get the entire town to put their support behind Wakefieldand send a clear msg.

When they were building it, Samuels and Carter were going around all the clubs saying all the approvals were in place and they'd found the only council supportive of a race track in NSW. With Amaroo closing around 5 years later, OP around a further 10 years on, WP has basically become a full time circuit for the Sydney basin running around 6 days a week. Vaguely remember back then, they were lucky to run 3 days pw, could see how it could become an issue with residents if not a big fan of the sport.

Used to operate out of a strip down that way, but more frequently one up here. You very quickly learn there's procedures designed not to antagonize certain neighbours. High power climbs or low level operation near them would result in instant grief on the phone.
