    Adaptronic m1200 triggering

Im putting an adaptronic m1200 on an engine with a weird crank trigger.

the tooth count on the crank sprocket is : 16 teeth , 3 missing , 1 tooth , 3 missing , 13 tooth , 3 missing. Is it even possible to use this and how would you configure it? ive read the triggering tutorials and videos but only see examples for sprockets like 60 with 2 missing etc.

for some more info , the crank signal is reluctor type and the cam signal is hall effect , the cam has 2 teeth for the trigger.

If it's a denso setup it sounds like 36-2-2-2 which is pretty common for subarus. 2 on cam is what some subaru have also.

I assume it's some suzuki engine that noone cares about?

    lol.

unless its already in the drop down list of triggers (or identical to an engine that is) in eugene for the M1200 then you are stuffed. you could write a nice email to adaptronic and send them a scope of a full 720 degree cycle and they might code it for you, but I think the days of Andy doing custom stuff for a random punter are over.

the generic triggering will only deal with evenly spaced teeth and a single gap of x teeth for a crank reset.

Yes of course that was the answer i was expecting , thank you.

I can get a trigger wheel with 6 evenly spaced triggers off another similar engine.

would i grind one of the triggers off the cam so it had only 1 home signal or i can keep the 2 teeth on and configure that?

also on an unrelated question to the adaptronic ...

what is the difference between a duetche dtm and dt connectors? and is it worth using the gold plated terminals or not ?

edit: i noticed you said evenly toothed with one missing for the reset , could i not use the 6 evenly spaced on the crank and the cam as a reset ?

Sorry for the dumb questions last few times ive done aftermarket they were plug and play setups for the triggering.

ok ive looked at the 36-2-2-2 and wow its close except this is 39-3-3-3 so still no dice on getting this to work i guess?

PS Fuck you and your suzuki hate

Edited: and thanks , you got it on the first post

Yes you could. You can have zero missing teeth on the crank and that's fine. Only reasons for using missing teeth are

-You have lots of crank teeth ie 60 and can't guarantee the cam reset will come in between the same two teeth every time due to floppy cam belt. So the the ecu sees the cam and says ok when I get to the gap I'll reset to 0 degrees.

Without a gap it must say OK when I see the next tooth I'll reset to 0 degrees.

So even teeth on crank with no missing and a single reset on the cam is what you want.

Then it's easy to set up in ecu, and you want the cam to come in nowhere near any crank teeth edges when you're working out where to locate it. If it comes in just before a tooth one cycle vs just after a tooth, that's 60 degrees difference in crank timing as far as the ecu is concerned.

With anything less that 36 crank teeth you don't need a missing crank tooth.

    You're right. It is 2-2-2

13-m-16-m-m. Same as Subaru H4 engines. Will have two cam signals too

Thanks burn , i think im on a winner , this looks identical to the subaru setup.

im a dumb cunt , visually it looked like 3 missing teeth , its only when i had the image in front of me and measured it it was 2 , and it was late in the afternoon and beer o clock when i took the pic..

    Out of interest -
    a) have you ever done a firmware update on your M1200
    b) did it explode shortly after if so?

Gyro guys are a bit special, an unreliable engine is among the least of their worries.

I said from the beginning that the design is flawed. he said it was great and loved it, so now I want to know why he is saying not to use one...

How do you go finding adequate liability insurance if working on aircraft?

As for DT and DTM, it comes down to size - DTM are "mini"
    DT - #16 pins (15 amp)

DTP is bigger - 25 amp pins (#12).

"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Haltech don't give two fucks about Adaptronic, my brother's one is fucked with software issues and Haltech took 6 weeks to even look at it.
