    BA wagon, turbo sleeper

Copy paste straight from my scumtree ad:

2003 BA wagon, plain jane white, was my daily work car until recently. Is in expected condition for a 300,000 km falcon. Everything is either faded, scuffed, dented, rattles or squeaks, but it all does its job. Heater gets hot, aircon gets cold. Comes with a full 12 months reg.

    Has FG manifold and turbo

    Kinigawa wastegate actuator

    braided oil lines

    hi flow cat

has a stock FG XR6T rear muffler which are known to flow very well but still keep it quiet to avoid unnecesary attention

custom front mount intercooler, with all piping hidden as much as possible (inside factory NA intake and air box)

    60lb injectors

walbro 255 in tank, aeroflow 044 external

super conservative tune, moderate boost which peaks at about 10psi and tapers off to 8ish. makes approx 250rwkw

    huge trans cooler

    twin 12" subs in back

Was going to put it on E85 and shoot for more power (hence the second fuel pump was added in) but have acquired a new car and running out of room.

Scumtree price is $6k, mandatory PF discount will be applied at checkout.

    Cheers, Ben.

Is this the best sleeper I’ve ever seen, or are all the go fast parts installed in the back?

All go fast bits are up front. Got a half hacked up heat shield over most of the turbo, of which the compressor cover is also painted black. Intake pipe is a 90* bend straight down with a pod filter under the car. Front mount and all piping painted black too.

    Bravo.

How much more boost can the trans/diff take before it all spills onto the bitumen?

Diff is Borg Warner 78 (VL turbo, VN-VR, e series falcon etc). Plenty tough.

BTR 4 speed was inadequate in standard cars, so it can safely take about 10psi less than it has in it now. In all seriousness though, it's had the shift's firmed up in the tune and bangs gears firmly. No signs of slipping but I don't abuse it. Big transcooler helps too.

If I was single I would buy this car.

But then I would not be single for long after being the owner obviously...

Only thing that puts me off at the advertised price is getting it engineered and RWC in Vic will drive the cost up pretty quick.

Engineering in Vic is a pain in the arse and not a cheap exercise, very hard to get friendly rwc now Vicroads require photo's too.

I would be surprised if it hasn't sold by now but it's only worth what someone will pay

The two engineers I have spoken to have said it would need to be engineered because the Turbo wasn't available in the wagons from the factory.

Vicroads says talk to an engineer.

The engineers also said it needs to run a factory turbo ecu to pass without needing emissions testing.

Before the new RWC photo requirements came in it was easy, get a friendly rwc and mail it in with the transfer forms.

If it was really easy it probably would have sold by now

Before the requirement for the tester to take pics for a rwc in Vic you used to be able to get one over the phone.
Didn't even need to see the car if you knew the right people.

Guess that's why the changed the rules.

Now it's even hard to get sympathetic ones for classic cars going on Club permit

I've never heard of vic roads come look at photos with any of the other rwc guys I know, I think they did it to crack down on the really dodgy northern suburbs workshops

Back to this wagon though, just put the NA exhaust manifold back on and get rego. Chuck turbo back on afterwards and its sorted.

Yeah this would be a breeze in QLD to rego. Probably $200 for safety cert and mod cert total. Less for common dodgey safety cert only.
