    House solar panels for 12v

Got a free AGM 12v battery and some free solar panels off a house.

Will any regulator do the job?

Google says no, that I need a special regulator because the house solar puts out a higher amperage? or some shit.

Just need one that can handle the volts. One of the larger victron units will do it.

Something like that. 100v is approx 4-5x 130w panels in series (I think, been a while since I looked into this stuff), my eBay 130w panel makes around 23v in full sun.

Cool. I'll chuck one on. I'm getting 10 panels but it only needs to feed a couple of batteries so I wasn't planning on using them all.

Victron has a calculator on their site for the bluesolar/smart solar range:

    https://www.victronenergy.com/upload...-Calc-1_9.xlsx

Find the specs for the panels, chuck them in one of the custom panel slots and then you can work out how many you can use with a controller and how they need to be wired.

i use a bluesolar 100/50 with a couple of 270w panels to keep 2x120ah AGMs charged, works a treat.

Cheers. Picking up the panels in the next week or so. May end up running a couple of 170ah batteries but nothing more than that.
