Trust me, no need to be gentle on the Twin Cam gearboxes. Only failure I've seen has been a crownwheel try to walk out of it's housing at Rally Bonnie Doon a couple of years ago. That car was wheelspinning in 1st gear heading up a hill when it got grip on some granite. I think that 'box had done about 20 odd rallies.

The 'slag copped about 10 "revlimiter and sidestep the clutch" starts at the Bryant Park Hillclimb on a 180,000km old gearbox and it's still fine....

Exedy HD organic clutches can be had for $200 - not sure if this would be enough for boost, as we haven't had one in the 'slag long enough to truly abuse it yet and are only running a std engine.

Interested in your thoughts on what turbo to use? I think we may be following in your footsteps quite closely, but with the focus being on autocross and track sprints more than a timeslip from Heathcote....

I ran one in my turbo accent for 18 months, daily driven and with many willowbank runs. Excedy used to have button clutch options too, not sure on how much they cost though

I reckon maybe a 16.6 is possible but that will do as a base line. Bad news is clutch does not feel like it will hold much more power than what it had.
16;s is pretty good for a stockie!!

              This is cool.

and here I was thinking the FWD challenge would be boring cause there would be no oddball cars, but now I realise ALL the cars will be out of place on the dragstrip!

Lol i felt like a winner all night, from the time that i lined up at the gates behind a 10 sec BBC hg monaro then proceeded to drive forward to the ticket both and say no i am racing not spectating, right up to the bit where i pulled up at the tower to collect my 16 sec time slip. Secretly i was happy with my 18.4 - 16.9 improvement haha

That's cool but might that warp the housing?

Love the budgetness of it though
