    13s for $1300 Daewoo Nubira

Last year I was given a Nubira with BHG, the owner considered it an economic write off and just wanted it gone. I drove it 20km home with 50% of the exhaust gasses exiting through the radiator overflow bottle and very frequent stops to refill the total loss cooling system. All of it's liquids and gasses were in the wrong places, I'm really suprised it made the trip. I've been tossing up weather to use it and promised myself I'd finish my Capella before I took on any other projects but it just looks too fun.

    Basic stats as it stands from the power of google are 133hp @ 5400rpm, 184Nm @4400rpm, 1155kg empty, 0-100km/h 9.0 seconds, 5 speed 2.0L 16v.

It had sat for quite a while before the head we fixed the head gasket and it has some significant corrosion in one of the bores around where the top ring sits at TDC. It seems to idle smooth and goes alright though but haven't bothered to do a compression test, it is what it is. The cause of the faliure seems to be the pressurised plastic radiator overflow bottle had cracked. It's glued up at the moment but I plan to make a more permanent fix soon.

I live about 3 hours drive from my nearest drag strip so it's going have to haul me and mates under it's own steam (pun!) to any event and back again in relitave comfort (and legality!). Instead of going down the stripped out route, I'm thinking turbo plus decent management and go from there.

    Budget so far:
    2000 Daewoo Nubira CDX $0
New head gasket and timing set $260
Secondhand turbo, Mitsubishi Heavy Industriees TD05H-16G $120
Found cleaning the interior (-) $4
    Gumtree Walbro fuel pump $70
    New injectors $160 - http://siemensdeka.com/specsheets/FI114961.jpg
    Secondhand "intercooler pipework" $5
Misc fittings for fuel system $5
    Secondhand intercooler $20.55
Megasquirt MSII Extra inc. harness $535
Silicone bends and hose clamps $200
New standard replacement Excedy clutch with modified sprung ceramic button friction plate - $439

    TOTAL $1,810.55
    TIME -

Gave it a bit of a wash this arvo and will check out what it needs for rego during the week.

Youll probably find 100kg to rip out whilst keeping it legalish too.

I reckon 2.0l plus boost will do a 13 if it holds together

GM generic, similar to Vectra, Astra etc. It is even the fancy model with power windows.

Good score for zero dollars. Driving to and from the track will be a challenge.

Dunno If i'd go with the adaptronic until you see how the engine/ecu reacts to some boost

Never race a car you like.
I approve of gutting this thing :D
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

My (pics) ex bought one of these brand new...in silver. (Before I met her)

My only memeory of it was one of those throttles you blip and the revs stay up for 4.36 seconds before coming back down.

That and it being a complete POS
