Nah mate working tomorrow unfortunately; I actually had yesterday off. I would ask if you're keen for lunch but I have to go out tomorrow to pick up the sump when it's done.
Geting it done at Kennedy Welding in Coorparoo; went home on lunch and removed it, so it is there already. Should be done by tomorrow morning. If you need them they'll come up on a Google Search. Quoted by phone $80 to weld up & retap the thread on the sump plug. Chatting to the dude when I got there he seemed to know his stuff and didn't seem to mind helping out on a small job.
Would have gotten Al to do it, if I'd known it was farked before last night!! The thread was a bit funny on the 1000km and 6000km services so I reckon it was probably stripped when they did pre-delivery on it... not that I can prove it (or that they'd cover warranty items on a turbo bike...).
It would actually have been running last night if this issue hadn't come up... but as it stands the whole thing is in bits as everything runs under the sump so it's all off! Still I've had plenty of practice installing/removing everything over and over again so it's a fairly painless exercise assuming no more stripped threads!Originally posted by 350stato100% agree with Shifty

Nice - way more local to me than my usual alloy welders!"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Got everything back together again and just about to a turnkey stage. I'm fairly spewing as one of the last things I had to do was connect the oil cooler lines... and the fucking threads are stripped................ aargh! That's awesome, as they've never been on & off before so the guy who made up all the oil lines has fucked them on me. So, I paid him a fucking fortune to make up oil lines I'm not exactly happy with, AND he has fucked the threads on me. I drilled out and cut the threads one size larger but for whatever reason I could only get one of them to bite so the sump has to come off again to get the bolt holes welded up, re-drilled and rethreaded. That'll be awesome to organise a few days before Christmas...!
On a brighter note, I've done a lot more of the little shyte:
* relocated ignitor
* colder plugs (from 8s to 9s)
* turbo now has gaskets
* fitted a temporary fine mesh air filter (better than nothing)
* re-routed some wiring
* fitted relay for the oil pump
All looking fairly good aside from the obvious.Originally posted by 350stato100% agree with Shifty

yeah i'll take the lines to enzed or some shit and get them duplicated in something that is not shit. just pissed as i paid a professional tradie near $600 to make up the lines and honestly i could have done abetter job myself in the same amount of time.. and for about $50.
sump is being helicoiled so hopefully that will solve my problem... otherwise I think I'll have to buy a new sump (i can see it being $1k+) and then get another mounting bracket welded onto that.
wired up the oil pump relay last night, also fucked up my foot by walking into a coffee table (broken & dislocated toe) which put a stop to progress. Will do the MAP sensor tonight and then I'm prettymuch sweet apart from reassembly.Originally posted by 350stato100% agree with Shifty

Broken toe yesterday, minor scalpel work today after skin cancer check, I'm in the wars hey. Maybe I shouldn't have a turbo bike if i can break myself by walking into a piece of furniture that's been there for 2½ years? Haha.
Should have the sump back today, or tomorrow at the absolute latest. Hope to fuck that the helicoil does the trick or I'll be well pissed.Originally posted by 350stato100% agree with Shifty

Just got a call, the sump is ready to go. Stuck at work so the gf is going to pick it up shortly.
Farkin whoosh!
Wired up the MAP sensor last night, found out afterwards that if the parts dealer actually knew his shit that he could have supplied PC3 loom with a 'plug in' item to suit a GM Map sensor straight from the catalogue! Anyway got it all together so that's just about it.Originally posted by 350stato100% agree with Shifty
