Kill the ignition and take off the hose to the tubo- if you have litres of flow then you found the problem. Did you run it for a while? The oil and crap inside the manifold and turbo take a while to burn off.
Oh and are you sure it isn't fuel smoke? Does it smell like oil?
scavenge pump is working fine... i had the line off it and the farker shot oil two feet from the bike
the exhaust tip (post muffler) is wet with oil, the dump itself was fairly wet and there was a little pool of oil in the turbine housing
i think i just need to connect everything back up again, bleed the brakes and take it around the block. can't really achieve much free-revving it in the driveway, other than pissing of the neighbours
out of interest gave it a spin to redline and it makes turbo noises even with no load. woo!
does the turbo's oil drain have somewhere to pool? or does it go straight into the VDO pump?
perhaps some kind of 'mini-sump' might be required for the times when the pump can't keep up with the amount of oil that the engine pushing into the turbo's core...
also , what kind of voltage does the pump get at idle?
