did you run the oil drain into a little tank then into the pump?

is the turbo a ball bearing? if so you will need a restrictor..
    im a cunt
and apparently i dont know shit...

conventional bearing oil cooled only, general internet sp33k has been that i will not ned a restrictor.

hose to oil pump is fairly flat but pump inlet is well below turbo outlet so this shouldn't be the problem

disconnect oil feed and turn pump off and run it, see if smoke clears.

wont hurt it if you run it no load for a minute I'm sure.

          fair call

no load, low rpm and low temp will be fine

will do the same with the return as well, will disconnect the pump and see if it gravity drains into a container

Kill the ignition and take off the hose to the tubo- if you have litres of flow then you found the problem. Did you run it for a while? The oil and crap inside the manifold and turbo take a while to burn off.

Oh and are you sure it isn't fuel smoke? Does it smell like oil?

Yeah I'll disconnect the hoses tonight and see how much of a mess I can make.

It's blue as your balls mate, definitely oil haha. Ps how good is that pic of you that Dale put up? Pps love the sig

what pic did i put up?? LOL i cant remember

the only way i found these little pumps work is to run the oil into a sump and then pump it out,
                    im a cunt

scavenge pump is working fine... i had the line off it and the farker shot oil two feet from the bike

the exhaust tip (post muffler) is wet with oil, the dump itself was fairly wet and there was a little pool of oil in the turbine housing

i think i just need to connect everything back up again, bleed the brakes and take it around the block. can't really achieve much free-revving it in the driveway, other than pissing of the neighbours

out of interest gave it a spin to redline and it makes turbo noises even with no load. woo!

Nah bleeding the brakes is a carnt of a job on this thing, is a job that should involve less mozzies & more daylight.

So, based on the oil in the exhaust and the fact that the plugs don't seem to be fouling, it's fair to say that we are down to one of three issues:

                          fucked turbo oil seal
                          too much pressure/flow
                          scavenge system not working/inadequate

yep rolla gone, young bloke had someone crash into him and bought the car off me to put his 100kw running gear into. glad it's gone to a good home.

also sold the fwd-specific running gear (shafts, box) so if I don't sell the 3sgte it will be going into something rwd

although at the moment i'm doing fuck-all of anything until this bike is a goer

does the turbo's oil drain have somewhere to pool? or does it go straight into the VDO pump?

perhaps some kind of 'mini-sump' might be required for the times when the pump can't keep up with the amount of oil that the engine pushing into the turbo's core...

also , what kind of voltage does the pump get at idle?
