Bit ridiculous there's a three month lead-in... so they acknowledge and accept that it's safe& reasonable practice and even agree to accept it. But you are still doing it illegally between now & then.
Still three months aint bad, QLD will get this in another 50 years. Maybe.
Another rule change for the better is NSW requirement for rear indicator separation of 300mm has been amended to bring it in line with the ADR requirement of 180mm. I'd be interested how many defects of standard, ADR compliant bikes were issued and actually upheld though? Would be really messy if someone took it to court, since Federal law over rules state/local laws.
isn't this already legal when the cars are stopped? I'd always assumed it had been, and I actively move over if possible to give them room...
I reckon its a pretty shit idea in moving traffic though, even if it is 20kmh bullshit stop start traffic... you'll get the 10% of bike riders who are hot headed trying to filter past the 10% of drivers who think that motorbikes are evil, and the 30% who are just useless.
bikes can use bus lanes in NSW can't they? that article suggests that is being revoked as this rule gets brought in?

I've had many gauges in cars. I always found the conrods react faster than a gauge.
you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.
