      It doesn't - he's fitted an Acossato master, clutch perch and levers!
      The Acossato stuff is supposed to be very good.

          Took it for a quick squirt and it's amazing how much more modern and precise the ride is without the play in the levers. I suppose the originals are 23+ years old now.

              Upgrading to modern radial masters on the Bimbo is in the future somewhere... either RCSs or Acossatos...

                  Couple more little jobs to tick off before the track Day Sunday are,
                  1. New plugs as these have been in since late 17 and have noticed a little fouling on one one cylinder if you have puttered around for a while. A good apprentice tune always fixes it.

                  Trying iridiums

                  Lower cylinder is easy.

                  Upper no so easy but still doable.


                  Job 2. Empty oil drain bottles.
                  Get distracted with how nice the pipes are every time I take the belly pan off.

                    Job 3. Make some mirror blanking plates. I just cable tie with a bit of rubber underneath for the gsxr, but I don't think the fairing is as robust on the tyga stuff.
                    Just cut out some aluminium I had and glued some rubber underneath.


                    Now it's ready to go.

                      Bitter sweet day at the track today.
                      We knew the chance of rain was high but we were signed up and committed.
                      3 good sessions were had and then the skies opened up and wrote off the day all bar a couple of loose units willing to have a crack on a wet track. Not my cup of tea.

                      I did the first and third session on the rgv and had a ball. Gearing was great for all corners except for 1 and 2. Second gear was too high and third was too low so a bit of clutch slip out of the corner helped keep it above about 9k.
                      Brakes and suspension feel great, it rails through corners and the brakes were well and truly up to the task for the two 15 minute sessions.
                      To run with the bigger bikes you do have to wring it's neck and short shifting results in loss of revs for the rest of the straight which QR is just a series of.

                            On a recent ride this was struggling to climb through the revs past 8k. Had plenty of fuel and the plugs only have 200klms on them so decided to have a look at the power valves.

                            Access is not too bad and you can do it without removing the radiator if the mounts are unbolted and pushed forward.
                            Once removed they were pretty nasty.

                            They only have about 1300 kays on them but it has also done 3 Dyno sessions.
                            I'm sure they would look cleaner if it was ridden harder but having a licence is convenient.
                            I found the best way to clean them up was to scrape off the baked on carbon with a razor blade then give a once over with a scotch brite pad.


                            Valves back in, shaft through the top, pulleys on and cables set.

                            Test run proved a success, pulls clean to red line with no hesitation.

                              One other job I did while the fairing was off was to change the indicator buttons over.
                              I have persisted with a button on each bar for the respective indicator.
                              Could not get used to it. I thought it would be intuitive but going in and out of corners usually means adjusting throttle inputs and a bit of front brake work.
                              On the left is just easier. BMW used to do it not sure if they still do but it's not for me.
                              The two blue buttons are indicators.
                              One of the white buttons is for lights and high beam with a long push and the other is a spare.
                              I just swapped the plug pins over so the right blue now does the lights and the left top white is for right indicator.

                                One of the things that bugged me was the cable tie holding the rear reservoir tube in place.

                                I had a mate of mine machine a clamp out of delrin to mount from the subframe to the tube.

                                Got him to knock out two, the second for the Ducati.
                                Installed... No more cable tie.
