Pedals are in and master cyl fitted.
Not entirely happy, but it'll do until I can afford floor mounted pedals.
The bracing plate will be welded to the firewall next time the motor is back out.

I'll have spent so long building it that when it's done I will probably stand there staring at it wondering what I'm supposed to do with it.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

Alright, have a few questions.
On my new 044 pump is this thing:

WTF is it, and do I need it? Looks like a check valve to me.
Also, the VE shifter is being test fitted, but the bolt holes holding the shifter legs to the gearbox have no threads. WTF holds these in?

Stupid design.
I'm also missing the shift rod that goes from the base of the lever to the gearbox. Holden sell the shifter as an assembly which is about $400.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

Just for RotaUte here is a LS1 Discovery

Looks pretty clean inside, but the windage tray was loose and heaps of random bits are missing.

There's only a small amount of piston thrust and the bores look good. Hard to tell in the pics. It's not as glazed as it looks. The burn marks are odd though. Is this normal on these?

Also, any difference between early and later LS1 heads?
