I haven't got a lot of cash so am just slowly picking away at it. It will be for circuit work, and the odd hillclimb event.
'91 model Holden Commodore VN model. Post-"P"Plater-fucked. Brocky seat covers, stereo held in by twisting all the wires together (electrical tape? What's that?) one bald rear tyre, etc etc. Couldn't possibly be more of a generic VN, except there's no rust or damage on it. Really the only reason I got it. I looked at about 15 VL's which were all rooted, beyond even gutting for a race car.
Every aftermarket part under the sun is available from the corner store. Fuck me I have never been able to buy aftermarket parts for a project car from the supermarket before! This has been so damn easy so far it's scary. It's really nice to be able to walk into a speed shop and get something over the counter instead of having to fabricate everything from scratch like all my previous projects, or have them look at you like you just stepped out of a UFO.
First thing I did was strip the interior. Then replace all the rear end bushes with neoprene. There's a couple of bushes fitted into the diff housing which I am ignoring, as I need to remove the diff at some stage to fit a mini spool anyway.
I'll do a few events with the stock V6 tractor motor, even though I pick up the LS1 in 2 weeks. I need to spend some real money on springs, shocks, brakes and the front end in general before I'd want to try and throw 230kW around.
Anyway, early days but I'll update as I go.
The ebay pic. Note the braniac that sold it managed to get his finger in the frame:

I always hated these things, but I make it a rule to race in stuff you don't like. That way you don't feel any need to baby it.

Interior stripped out. I'm having trouble finding a race seat, as my shoulder height is way too high for most seats.

mmmm new stuff: New panhard rod, new lower control arms with neoprene bushes, new upper control arms with neoprene bushes.
