Front suspension is starting to come together. I changed my mind on what to do for the uprights about 5 times but in the end I have made some new ones using some slimline trailer stub axles I had sitting around and using the ball joints I bought to suit the holden uprights. They look like shit but seem pretty solid.

The new front sub frame is bolted into the car using the original bolt holes. I started with the original subframe and have been cutting out the original pieces out as I welded in the new bits. Probably made it harder than it needs to be but it seems like a good idea to be able to remove the complete front suspension. Its still a work in progress and I need to cut out most of the remaining original pieces and tidy it up once the roll cage is done and the tied into the top of the subframe.

Currently working on making the coilover for the front so I can finalise the lower control arm attachments and the remainder of the front frame. Want to do the cage after this but I'm thinking I might get side tracked and make a new tube bender first. My bender wont do the main roll hoop and I've been keen for a while to make a new one like the JD2 model 53 so this seem like a pretty solid reason.

Good progress. If you remake the uprights a 6th time consider HQ Holden knuckles. What you are making looks close geometrically.

Is the fuel tank living in the front sub frame?

I'm going to make up some tabs with tapered holes and weld them on for the steering... I thought about using something bolted but it doesn't really seem worth the effort. The uprights are basically copys of a HQ-WB holden with the ball joints moved around to increase KPI and reduce the scrub radius. I had a good look at modifying a holden upright to make it work but I couldn't get the lower joint in the right place.

Yeah I'm thinking I might make a tank that sits in the subframe... it seems like the ideal spot.

Don't know what that is but I'm interested. Actually if I hold off what are the chances of you starting a project on it then selling it to me partly done with a bunch of parts? Maybe a LS powered desert rally charade?

SuperKarts are my thing now, Rebuild the whole thing in a day or 2 and very fast at a fraction of the cost.
How many LS engines you want? NO MORE PROJECTS. Except the 240Z.

Done a bit more on the front suspension... thought I was closer to having this bit finished but there still seems to be a stack of stuff left to do. Got a big old milling machine so my first job on it was to make the brake caliper brackets... came out pretty good i reckon... fuck milling machines are the shit. Also made up the coilovers and had to modify the lower control arms because i fucked up the jig and made them 25mm too long. Had 7 degrees of negative camber and couldn't adjust it out when I test assembled it the first time.

Now working on the top mounts for the coilovers but looking forward to doing something other than supension.

Dropping off a couple of LS's for the next project... How thoughtful.

Actually Zak mentioned that jeff might have the gear to bend the main hoop for the cage... If i make a template of what i want any chance he might be able to give me a hand? I've been feeling pretty motivated to get this finished recently.

Cut the camry struts apart, threaded the end and made some caps to fit koni inserts.

Cut most of the rest of the original front end out and still need to go a bit further to clear the wheels at full suspension travel. Left some tabs on the top to tie it back to the cage once its in to stop it folding in half.
