Hit the deadener with dry-ice. It works a treat and makes the job really simple and clean. Just pack it onto an area, let it go hard (you'll here it crack and pop) then give it a tap with a rubber mallet. It'll lift off in chunks.

All you'll have to do when it's all gone is wipe the residue off with some thinners.

      Update time:

Gearbox glued back together with the welded diff and a new clutch installed.

Wound some camber into the rears by slotting the shocks and then fixing them in place by welding a washer to prevent any movement. Will do the same to the fronts before the racing resumes next year.

Last weekend was Round 4 of the 2016 Raleigh RallyX series. Entered and had a ball. Ended up winning by just over 4 seconds with 15 cars in the field.

My mate in his white corolla finished second.

Heat 1 - Corolla vs BA Falcon

GoPro battery died in heat 4 where I set my PB laptime which is a bit disappointing. Can't wait to get back into the car again.

Monkey wrench racing for toyota stuff.

This model had their own rally series, so there is a little bit of knowlegds in regards parts out there.

        Suspension from MCA would help.

Worked liked a treat, I was worried about popping CV's to start with but they held up all day. The extra acceleration out of the corners was unreal. It takes a completely different driving style to get it turned in though.

Having a bit of trouble engaging 2nd gear at full revs now though, I think the shift linkage cables have stretched a little, will investigate in the next few weeks.

Check your front and rear motor/gearbag mounts.

Interesting, I have always thought a locked diff in a fwd would handle like a dog. Maybe not? Will be interesting to see how long the cvs last too. But yeah I absolutely love builds like this, looks like a ton of fun to throw around.

Won't be too much of an issue on dirt.

I know the guys that rally the Excels were blowing diffs if they weren't welded.

get some solid setting mastic, and fill the mounts with it. cheap polys.

                        like so.

                          +1

In-car footage looks like a tonne of fun. Love the effort you went to with the weight reduction tally!

Yeah they ran this morning and again tomorrow morning. Going to head down tomorrow to see how they go, from the looks of it they are running the course anti-clockwise.

Next RallyX event is next weekend. I'm hoping the pitlane gets the necessary upgrades to run 4-6 cars simultaneously before next years season.
