    EK Civic

    So.. long time lurker, very rarely post. G'day.

    Have been having a lot of fun on the track in my WRX lately but every time I take it out I get a little nervous about blowing it up or putting it into a wall. So have been looking into getting a track car I can beat on in sprints, hillclimbs, etc but it has to be:

    -reliable (would rather drive it than work on it these days)
    -registered (no room for a trailer)
    -quickish
    -cheapish to run/easy to source parts

    First thoughts are all the stuff that was cool in the late 90s when I was a p-plater - 1600s, Escorts, etc.. but holy shit has that stuff gone up. S13s - going up too/99% of them are turds. Early WRX's - kinda been there, done that. Over AWD.

    Enter.. The EK.



    On the surface, it's a bit of a dunger. Underneath is a B18C Engine from a JDM Type R Integra with its S80 LSD gearbox, hondata ECU, DC2R brakes, stripped interior with AGI half-cage, front splitter with undertray, an array of LCA's, swaybars, coil-overs, braces etc.



    First thing I had to do was get rid of the fully sick rims for something with an adult offset and raise it a little. Drove it from Sydney to Brisbane via Bathurst about an inch of the ground - not ideal. Also pissed off the RSR's for some fresh 205/50 AR-1's. Ordered these cheap Spoon knock-offs on ebay. 6kg each and $550 odd for a set. Should do the job.



    Still trying to get it registered - have been pretty busy lately and the cage has caused a few delays. The plan was to launch it last weekend at the Noosa Hillclimb, but opted for the WRX at the last minute. Hopefully time attack at Lakeside next weekend will be its debut. Will be fun learning to drive without AWD grip again - the WRX and S4 have made me pretty lazy.

    The plan is to throw a seat in it and clean it up a little and replace/upgrade things when they break and develop it a little further. Better coil-overs and weight reduction would be a good start. Would like to get it to similar times as the WRX on track, but we will see. Otherwise, just enjoy driving something cheap that I can re-shell if need be.

        Nice car. Having had a DC2R, always wondered how the engine would go in an EK. Quick I imagine! Subbed.

          Not long ago put a B18 in a 98 Civic and can vouch for its love of being severely flogged.

                          You have got yourself a great platform to work from jus stay away from all the internet Bullshit and you will be ok . if doing club sprints just put a set of MCS suspension on it and a set of quality pads front and rear and work from there

                            Nice. I did exactly the same thing on mine, going to a subtler wheel spec as a first mod. How's it going six+ months down the track?
