The finger of blame is coming around to your direction dad!Originally posted by macktheknife2 View PostDefective genetics farking.
There are many known good cars I could have bought with the coin that I'll have tied up in this thing. I'll be keeping it till I die. Because if I do try and sell it, nopics will kill me anyway....Originally posted by myshortyboomba View PostI know. Cracka's is the cheap and nasty one and I know what his cost is up to.

That's how I felt about mine, so I didn't sell it, I axed it instead.
Could have spent $900 on a clutch and driven it for another 5 years, but straw + camel's back = axe.Pest Control - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich and South West QLD PF discounts apply.

merc wheels and SL600 brakes are a winning idea. smart move.
why didn't you do that a year ago instead doing those other dumbarse wheel/brake ideas that are now redundant.
while on a rant: the single smartest thing you ever did with this car was put a turbo on the V12 IMO. Who's idea was it after all the rubbish?
Your car frustrates me emotionally. Which is to be taken as a compliment, because I have put 16 minutes of thought into it. Which is 15 minutes more than 90% of the cars on here.Pest Control - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich and South West QLD PF discounts apply.

I gotta hand it to you - from you merely mentioning the change of wheel at my place, your nopics being able to cite the reasoning of hand - to inception 3 days laterOriginally posted by bahaimus View PostCoil packs mounted and custom leads being made. Al is starting to run some wires too. And removing a bunch from the old engine loom. Keen eyes will spot the Speedflow of the electrical world with judicious use of Deutsch connectors. My budget is copping an anal raping.

An under shot. New half inch 100 series braided fuel line running up the opposite side of the car to standard. Keeps it away from the turbo gear once it hits the engine bay.

With all the problems I had with the planned brake upgrade, plus the likelihood that this thing is going to be consistently approaching corners on the track with a fair whack more speed than with previous powerplants, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up a different brake package. Long time readers might remember I'd already bought a set of Brembo calipers from a ML. But they would have needed a dogbone adapter to fit and I needed to split the caliper as well to get the bleeders at the top and to re-orient the piston sections (leading versus trailing mounting). Too much fucking around and I'm a bit gun shy about splitting calipers now...
So I picked up this brake caliper package from an R129 SL600. V12 Merc brakes for a V12 Merc. These bolt on in the correct orientation and will run a 334x32 front rotor and 300x22 rear. So the rear is bigger than my previously planned front! Hopefully this, with some good pads, will give me the consistent brake performance I'll be wanting. I'll give them a lick of paint too.

I also questioned the wisdom of using this car as a daily driver with such stiff suspension on our shitty roads when I've got Jap wheels fitted with hubcentric rings and wobble bolts. Discretion being the better part of valour, I opted to pick up some Merc wheels again. These are 17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 rear from a W203 C32 AMG. I'll swap the 595RS-R tyres onto them when I get the car back from Al.

If I can sort out something for the front bar to hide the cooler, hopefully from outside it'll just look like any old Merc with a set of wheels and some painted brakes and shouldn't draw too much unwanted attention. Except when it is 45 degrees to the road with the tyres on fire..................
