The 6L out of a AMG 560SEC Sledgehammer would be win. Good luck finding one of those!
The most dangerous risk of all - the risk of spending your life not doing what you want, on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later. - Randy Komisar.
If some bloke can slap a turbo on a 180E, and not have the Merc dealer tell him to fuck off, then a couple of turbos on this will be full of win, with EFI.
At least you're starting with an engine that is half decent.
Although the other option is stick a nice big Merc V8 into it, ala Brabus in the 1980s!
PS: You cunt I like the 190E 2.6, find me another one cunt!
Bahaimus, I got a spare 6.9 block if you wanna shoehorn that into it?
You'd have to move the front seats to the back seat and move the firewall back some.
Those turbos will be fucking sweet as on a 103. Get some momentum up cunt and finish this thing by Bathurst next year!!!
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."
Can you flip the exhaust manifolds to point forwards/upwards? Or will it be twin J pipes?
Single feed off the intercooler into the factory intake manifold, modded for real injectors?

Will have to suss out he exhaust manifold situation. Worst case a couple of steam pipe log styles should go alright.
Something like that for the inlet side for the time being, yes.

Nothing like spending a grand to buy something in unknown condition, from an unknown internet seller, to be dropped at a shipping depot in an unknown town to hopefully arrive in Australia in an unknown state at some unknown date in the future.
The final big piece of my puzzle. Getrag 275 5sp from a 16v 190E. Close ratio, dogleg first, heaps stronger than the 6sp. Plus pretty much all the bits to complete the gearbox conversion job.
thats awesome dude, the clouds of 'headfuck' are clearing...
flywheel, starter, clutch are all much easier.
oh and I've got a H/Duty engine stand free now if you want to put the big POS up on a stand... come around and grab it anytime... it's just taking up space.
Is that a twin plate clutch setup? the flywheel looks very deep.
Still going to do the tilton clutch?

Yep, it's all starting to come together nicely now. I might do that actually.

Just a single plate. Tilton will require custom flywheel. Given I've been able to snag this setup and I'm going turbo as well, I'm not as concerned about having a super light flywheel, so I might just slip down to Jim Berry with the clutch and get him to weave some magic.
Well, continuing my apparent trend of buying lots of stuff and not making a lot of labour progress, it's been like christmas at my house the last few days. The packages just keep rolling in!
Popped down the coast to pick up the turbos from Q. He was kind enough to allow me sample how these turbos perform in a 996 Turbo. They're oil cooled only so that makes the plumbing a little easier.
I've taken the decision to set the car up for E85. So I'll need decent sized injectors. These 90lb (935cc) jobbies should do the trick leaving a bit of headroom.
I don't want to run those bad boys dry under the rigours of track work so a surge tank will add some safeguard. This will mount under the car. Keep the noise down a bit.
Sending plenty of fuel forwards will be a pair of these. Perhaps a bit of overkill.......
Pumps will be fitted out with my first ever taste of anodised fittings. I could see this easily developing into an expensive addiction.
A metre of fuel rail extrusion to muck around and practice machining before I attempt the final product.
A visit to Tim510's place for project car inspiration also netted me this decent sized oil cooler. Thanks big fella! Something else to try and find space for at the front of the car.
Going to get some exhaust manifold flange plates cut. They're cheap enough so I'll get some spares. That way, I can have a go at making my own basic turbo manifolds. A bit of fun and a learning experience if nothing else.
And finally (for now) a big box of assorted gaskets, bearings, steering and suspension bits from the US. Ordered Wednesday last week, arrived yesterday.
I've also ordered a full set of urethane suspension bushes from a bloke in Thailand who took the initiative to get a bunch made for the 190E.
And a set of adjustable rear camber arms
