Fuck me. So much butthurt in this thread.
Good on you Clayto, I reckon the v12 will be the business. Even if it ends up being heavier than the original turbo 6 idea just work around it with suspension fettling, etc to get it how you want. The noise everytime you plant the right foot will make it all worthwhile. I'm doing the same with the 2JZE30 and even with the extra stress the heavy donk is putting on stuff no way would I trade it for anything else.
As for the SR20 idea, seriously, what the fucking fuck. I like you guys and all but you need to be smacked in the face with a wet fish to destroy a car's soul with that tractor engine POS. Why not fit a mootec bucket of aids while you're at it.
P.S in future, dont ask any cunt on this forum what you should do, they'll come up with a million reasons why you should/shouldnt do it. Go straight to Al's, drink his beer, do not pass go, get a plan and make it go.Originally posted by Dimi80mm of penetration isn't bad, i wish i had that much.Originally posted by schnitzelburgerMy entire working career pretty much consists of suckin dick and takin names.

I have to admit, the naysayers were what finally fired me up to pull the trigger.Originally posted by myshortyboomba View PostGood.

Assuming it actually fits, then yes I will stick with this. It will cost more. It won't be as fast as a tuned 2J or LS. But it'll be cooler.Originally posted by bigmuz View PostI don't know if this is the most sensible plan but it will be quite individual and briskish so happy days.
Can you just stick with this now?
Cheers
Ps single turbo or twins?
Probably not turbo at this stage. I still have some throttle bodies hanging around in my garage.........
Anecdotally, the 1GZ is lighter than the 2JZ (and so probably the Merc I6 donk I was going to use) and close enough to the same length.Originally posted by Boxer View PostWhats the weight comparisons between these engines? (2J, LS, 1G)
Will the V12 end up further forward than an LS1 would have? (if it were viable considering the steering box?)
I expect that the 1GZ would weigh more than the LS1 and yes, there will be more engine ahead of the front axle than with the LS1.

1GZ is reportedly 20kg lighter than a 2JZ so a little bit heavier than an LS1. It will obviously be further forward than a V8 as it is longer.
The 1GZ in the Liberty should be a reasonable demonstration of how compact the engine is.David Fraser - Automotive Historian!
