yeah would think you would have to paint a blade as 180,000 rpm x number of blades to count for 1 revolution = a mother load of cycles per second.

No blade painting required man. It just counts how many times it detects a blade passing by and divides by the number of blades.
Industrial sensors are well cabable of measuring 100,000x6 events per minute, so that gives 10,000 hz, or 10 khz. Easy done.
Toys toys toys.

So - the actual fabrication of crucial bits has started.
Here's the plenum in work (the design is complete - I'm just making all the bits up and fitting them together now.)
To minimise the risk of failure I changed the design of the plenum to be made up of two major pieces. The roof and sides are a single piece of 4mm plate with a 5inch diameter bend in the centre. The base of the plenum is a single pice of 5mm plate with a return on each side that overlaps the roof panel to allow a lap weld (much much stronger obviously).

At the ends I'm using bits of a 5 inch donut to make it all nice and smooth and ensure a nice transition around to cyls 1&2. (the bit you can see is the end of the plenum at #6 obviously though - haven't done the front yet)

The pic shows roughly where the intercooler will sit - across to the left of the bay, with the throttle body being fed straight off the right tank of the cooler. Intercooler piping will be 5 inch. (Why? Because I can and because I have 1/2 of a 5 inch donut left over.
)

In this pic you can see dales neat injector bosses (very tidy work they are), and there will be on injector on topof each runner and one below.

Rolling along nicely now.Adjustable cam gears for 1FZ-FE now ready for sale - 10 degrees advance/10 degrees retard. Suitable for all variants of 1FZ-FE.

Did you know there is now a company in USA make single injectors up to 5000cc? the name of the company has slipped my mind but maybe it will save you the complexity of another fuel rail.2JZ KE20 Corolla 7.97 @ 178

Yeah - I have investigated those, but I'd already bought the 1600s. A second rail is a snack to set-up anyway though.
One advantage of running two rails is that after a meet is over I can drain the tank of meth, put pump fuel in it, unplug 6 of the injectors and fire the car straight back up. No changing of maps required.
The other thing that has kept me with 2 rails is that as I plant to run the car on fuel first for run-in and initial tuning is that I suspect those whopper injectors won't work that well with fuel, and for startup I can use just 1 set of the 1600s. It'll be fun to see what it'll make on 'pump fuel' to begin with.

Getting there dude.
There's a bit of a hold-up at the moment - I'm waiting on the exhaust manifold to arrive, because that drives the exact position of the water to air cooler, and hence the position of the throttlebody. Once that gets here it's full steam ahead.
I've also picked up a complete series 1, 1972 sedan so I'll finally be able to have the car 100% cosmetically complete for the first time ever.
Should be firing before Xmas.
