    Got the plenum back from the welders today. It's really starting to look like a thing now.

    Bottom section all welded up (plenum floor, runners and head plate) as well as main hat. Next is to install the bellmouths and position the injector bungs, match port the head plate to the head and sort final TB orientation.

    Once all that's sorted it'll go back to be finally stitched together.







    Now we're cooking.
    Adjustable cam gears for 1FZ-FE now ready for sale - 10 degrees advance/10 degrees retard. Suitable for all variants of 1FZ-FE.

    (adjustable scissor gear for changing separation angle between the intake and exhaust cams coming soon)

      looks good, and use some speed flow on those breather hoses, i think you have spent enough to warrant it lol

        Yeah - don't sweat it Alex, those are just left overs from the last engine package.

        It'll look a whole lot different this time around.

                Yep, this thing is genuienly off the hook.

                But can anyone explain quickly the theory behind having the inlet bellmouths poking half way into the plenum rather than sitting almost flush with the back plate there?

                Alot of OEM stuff (especially nissan ITB setups) are similar to this:

                  A full roll back bell mouth flows better than a flush mounter radiussed hole, by quite a fair margin.

                      Tripper, Tripper, Tripper. That's just a minor detail mate. (ie, I haven't worked it out yet...)

                      Probably a hole down through the panel at the base of the windshield. (the plug is in front of the base of the windshield so it shouldn't be too bad)

                      Recessing the motor has introduced a few curly ones like getting the rocker cover on and off, access to the rear head bolts etc, but nothing insurmoutable.

                        Ya my 6th plug is well under aswell, i can just get a rachet in there with a real short extension, you may have to drop the socket and extension down the hole then wack the ratchet on. No chance i can get the head off in car though.

                          Hole-saw a hole directly above the plug, wouldnt need to be overly big, only 1mm bigger than the socket. Could probably get a black rubber gromet to go in it and anyone but you would be none the wiser.

                            also if ur waiting for you manifold from 6 boost dont hold your breath, i will almost guarantee you that it will get lost at least once int he post lol!!

                                Yeah .. or his courier account will get cancelled due to an invoicing error .. or any of a few other excuses lol.

                                Regarding the inlet manifold, how did you decide how far to extend the runners inside the plenum itself? Or doesn't it really matter?
