How's a divided housing going to handle being cut open though? If it was open it would be fine(but you wouldn't have this problem with an open collector either).
There's loads of space under the manifold for the gate and a few spots where I can take the WG pipes off the collector from underneath(3/4 or 1/4, whichever is more accessible to weld) so I think that's the way to go.

Wish i had the space, equipment and skills to do stuff like that, nice work!

I reckon the divided housing will handle it just fine, but if you reckon you've got the space underneath, I don't see you targeting 700hp so the conventional path for sure. for the wastegate I reckon just make the gate pipes as large as the valve itself, that way its got nothing except turbulence thats gonna affect your ability to control boost.

Didn't do anything that interesting today, just braced the top rad support and bolted it back in place, mounted the S15 radiator and relocated the alternator to the opposite side of the engine. I was looking at mounting the intercooler and thought that I better sort out the rad support first as the core will be tied to it, then I tought I should finish the radiator, then I was going to mount the WRX fans on the rad and thought I better finalise the pulley layout so I don't get clearance problems with the fans later and on it went. That's what happens with engine conversions.

Radiator support mounts made from some folded brackets. I got them off some truck exhaust pipe I have and welded to the rad support. I also seam welded all the cut panels back together. There is a lot of cut off bits as the original radiator only covered 2/3 of the rad support and was about an inch further forwad than the new rad.

            Rad in.

Alternator relocated from driver side to passenger side(where A/C compressor was). Because I mounted the engine quite low and as far back as I could the alt doesn't clear the rail on the other side. Some custom mounts on the passenger side and it clears pretty well.

              Looks great...

Al I've never really looked in to it, but is the alternator relocation a 'bolt on' proposition? I'm assuming the PS pump still fits?

You have to space it to the appropriate position so the pulley's align but it is pretty straighforward. Yes the PS still fits, A/C compressor may be a squeeze though.

A bit more done today. WRX fans mounted on the S15 raditator. They fit the rad perfectly and there is enough clearance to the pulleys albeit not a lot at the water pump pulley.

Got to work on finding a spot for the intercooler then, there's no ideal spot so I decided to go up high with it in an effort that it can be well hidden. It's just hanging atm, will solid mount it at the bottom with welded on brackets(to the core) to stiffen it up as it will then hold the bonnet latch plate in place.

The shops will be open again tomorrow and I have a large list of stuff to get. 1 more week to get some shid done before back to work.

What's the story with the Triumph in the background?

The Crown is coming along very nicely.

No firm ETA till skids, work progress will slow markedly once I go back to work on the 12th.

The Triumph is a 2000 wagon made into a ute by my mate/business partner's(stints on here) late father back in the 80's. He had a BL parts business and it was the shop ute. Stints inherited it on his passing and we spent our early 20's cheating death in it and generally trying to destroy it. It's waiting for a rebuild(lots of work) and is getting a 2JZ combo of some sort. He wants to go 2JZ/Glide/GT47 or similiar but I reckon he should make it a street car so it will get used. Willowbank is a long way away if you have to tow a car there to use it. His little bro has a wagon that was hand built by his father from a new bodyshell. It's getting a 1JZ soon.

i would put the gate off the exhaust housing, did this the other week on a mates S4 rx7 turbo, worked a treat, just bore a hole in the side with a hole saw and then die grinded it to give the angle required and tigged on the pipe

What about the seperation in the housing for the twin entry?

wont matter... you only cut out what you need, so it is still seperated in side the housing just not in the wastegate pipe

Did you preheat the housing and pipe and then just tig it on as normal? Any special filler wire?
