I'll probably shield the housing and wrap the dump too but there is plenty of space for the dump there. There's no need for anymore than a shield between the brakes/suspension and manifold/dump. Especially if the housing is shielded/bagged and the dump wrapped.

Keep in mind that you cannot get the same perspective of space from looking at the pictures as I have from building the car. :D

BA 16" steelies. $50 for a set. They'll do to hold it up off the ground. I'll leave the nice wheel selection process for the cosmetic part of the rebuild.

Been a slow couple of weeks on the crown front now I am back at work.

I pulled the engine back out last weekend to fix some rust in the front of the chassis.
Cut out the rust spot and welded in some new plate. Imagine how thrilled I was when I found that the harmonic balancer now cleared the chassis. Cool.

Also had the turbine housing off and sent it to a mate to redrill the core mount holes to suit the housing orientation on the 2JZ and had a V band flange machined up to mate to the housing.

Next step is painting the rust repair and the inner guards and refitting the engine for good.

Also got the BA steelies on with some new Toyo 225/50 tyres. Had to make an adjustable panhard rod to postion the diff correctly. Pushed it outside so we could do a bit of work to Az's H6 and it scored a free wash while it was out there.

Just get some period hub cabs for the ba steelies and some whitewall tyres.

              Love the rust repair lol.

Damn Rust, scourge of the classic car owner.
I reckon some small hub caps and whitewalls will do me. Got a number for a guy that does whitewalling but the tyres need to be used first.

Odd how it rusted just there. Is that a common problem on old cars that are getting a different motor? :p

Good to see something happening for the old girl.

Now to drag up Azz's thread so he updates it.

Just read this whole thread again. I approve.

I also cut out the trac control section of my TB. My mate who is a good welder had the same troubles welding it back up. It had a few air bubbles and pinholes. Nothing some paint couldn't fill. The metal must be shit.

                      What ECU are you using?

How does your turbo compare with stints and a GT35 in terms of power and spool?

Factory ecu. My turbo is the same as stints' but with a smaller exhaust housing. The compressor is similiar to the GT35 but the trim is different.
The exhaust is a lot bigger.

                          Factory ECU ftw. Bigger injectors?

Not straight up but probably will later. Car needs plenty of other things before it will need more power.

Oh crap, this is not likely to end well for my bank account.

I'll be getting some quotes on painting the thing this week I think. The paint is going down hill just sitting in the shed so it'll probably fall off due to chassis twist if I don't do it now. The rust repair int he chassis seems to be ok though.

Also got this random envelope in the mail last week with this note and electronic ding in it.
