Playa - One left I think. If you want, PM and I will hook you up. Freight will be a couple of hundred though.

This is closing down prices. Basically cost. They are normally $2500-2750. Anything coming in at the moment will be dearer because the yen is shit and no one is buying. It's actually getting hard to find some stuff now.

Yep, motor loom ecu. No boxes left. Aristo half cut is $2200.

Did a bit more wiring prep today. Got the loom to a point where it can be taped up and conduited then fitted to the engine/car.

I started by cutting off and removing any unnecessary connectors. All the VSV's for the sequential control, the TRC traction control motor and sensor plugs, oil level sensor etc. I then cut away all the insulation and removed the wiring for these plugs. Some wiring went back to the ecu plugs and some went to the body plug. I unpinned the ecu wiring and chopped off the the body plug wires.

The position of the turbo and manifolding made it necessary for me to reroute the wiring for the ignitor and O2 sensor as they pass through the space now taken up by the bagfull of pythons collector. I reouted them down the plug valley, the ignitor will mount on the firewall behind the engine and the O2 sensor plug will be fairly convenient for the dump pipe also.

Because I added some electrical switches and moved the alternator I had to add some wires for these so they are integrated into the harness. The alternator plug was grafted into the harness on the passenger side(formally on the drivers side with a seperate harness) and a pair of wires run for the TFS106 fan switch.

I then grafted the 3rd ECU plug into the main harness. It is part of the body harness on the Aristo(unitary on Supras). I sorted through this plug and removed about 60% of the wires in it as they were irrelevant to the application. I only needed to wire in the inhibitor switch connections to the main harness and send the rest off to some new plugs to connect to the car.

I then thinned out the big body harness connector, removing unnecessary wiring(there is a lot) and allocating the necessary stuff to new plugs.

Here's me nearing the end. I had long flowing hair reminiscent of an 80's rock video prior to starting.

Not really, it all fell out long ago, around the time kids arrived.

Here's the harness prepared and ready for insulation and fitment.
The round grey connector is the TDCL diag connector for scan tools, the 3 white 4 pin generic connectors are for things like check engine light, speed sensor, tacho output and forced convertor lockup(there's more). The 8 pin connector is for all power feeds from Ign switch, main relay, B+ and the starter wire. These will all go through relays once the harness is in the car. The big square block with the cut off wires is the original body connector and the pile of wires with black tape around them behind the ecu is all the wires unpinned from the ecu.

I also got the exhaust manifold sandblasted. I painted it to stop it rusting and then sent it to a mate to face the flanges.
Tailshaft is getting built, the guy is being anal about getting it right so it's taking time(not a bad thing I guess).

Not a bad beer AL , my mate had a similiar picture to that ( different beer ! ) when fitting a 4agze to his ae92 . Its definatly an art getting those looms ready to fit cars they arent designed for.

Nice going Al. Hey this is all I could find regarding the speed sensor. If its of no help I can take a look on my car tomorrow.

Thanks Dennis, those colours match up so I will give it a red hot go.

This wiring is pretty simple, I did wiring prep for 3 days this week at work for WRX and Liberty engines into Kombi's etc. These are also pretty easy because you are reducing the wiring down to basics. The more complex stuff is when you have to remove an integrated engine loom and then reintegrate another. The new one is normally 10 years newer and has immobilisers, fuel pump controllers and sometimes electronic throttles. Still just a matter of sorting through it though.

                                Here's a thread showing what's involved in making a 2004 WRX engine work in a 92 Liberty. http://www.ausubaru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12147
