the standard 6 cylinder diff will last a long time with 500+hp, with drag radials and hard launches, it is the half shafts and flanges in the diff that fail

Hopefully you'll take the heat of me. I would be interested to see what ball park figure you reakon the ocnversion, engine and geabox included, can be done for. I reakon this may be the new black.

Are the E28 M5, E24 M635i and E34 M5 rear-ends all the same? And would it be easier to source from Japan or the USA?

Just out of interest are you going to be doing the extractors as part of the conversion kit?

I think i'll just let people get the local exhaust shop to make their pipes-no room for error or differences between cars-really needs to be done on the actual car. I probably could have jigged some 1 5/8 or even 1 3/4-they would fit much easier, but the 1 7/8th just make it cramped.
id be making a jig for the pipes.... you can charge big $$$ for them... just sell them saying they may need a little bit of clearancing here and there..
                      im a cunt
and apparently i dont know shit...

Thanks, I look forward to it.

Might have to make a new 'race series' for these by the interest.

What rubber is on the wheels?

How do you go making the gauges & lights & the rest of the dash work with the new engine?

That would be the thing that would fuck me over I reckon.

A lot of the sensors/sendors between makes are interchangable or replaceable to suit.

Oil pressure, generally a NO switch.
                              Oil temp, resistive sender
                              Water temp, resistive sender
Oil level, Inductive sender (toyota one 'sort of works' with BMW system)
RPM, generally needs an amplifier circuit, but the later BMW might interface with low level
Fuel Economy, BMW require injector input (again can be made to work by taping in to a injector feed)
ALT, fairly basic indicator lamp circuit
Engine Check Light, BMW will either have this used that you can connect in to, or in some cases they have a ECL that isn't used that you can connect in to.
Speedo, built in to BMW diff so no interface required

I think you are right. I also understand some of the V8 and the V12 BMWs, ie 540, 740, 750 and 850, used the bigger diff with the 210mm crown wheel. No idea if LSDs were common, however.
