I needed two people to carry the exhaust from the 7 when I removed it It's rediculous what they weigh.

I am keen to see what the E30 will weigh when completed, probably not much if any lighter then the E36

Far out that's a mint conversion idea, I can only add that you should go the 6.0 LS2 as there is no substitute for....

What's going to happen out the back. LSD standard or optional?

          Brakes?

This is a really cool idea

In a car that weighs under 1400kg I would choose the LS1 5.7L. Also with the money saved you can pull it a part and drop in a nice cam. I would do heads too if you can afford it.

If you really want a 6 litre and can spend more I would choose the L98.

A nicely warmed up (heads + cam) LS1 will still make 300+kw at the wheels. A cam only L98 will make 330rwkw and they are as cheap as chips now. I think brand spankers they are about 4k...

Awesome conversion, wonder if it'd be do-able in NSW ? If so, i'm suprised it hasn't already been done...

Keep updating this thread Glen, can't wait to see the results !
The older i get, the better i was...

                Mini update,
                BMW 6cyl-SOLD-picked up next weekend
                T56-pick up tomorrow
L98-Looks like this will be the go.

Front end is off, which is going to make fabricating mounts/pipes soo much easier-What a mint idea having a removable front is.

Sure is, the M50/getrag is the same weight as a LS1/T56.

I know the T56 is about 25kg heavier than a getrag, so the LS1 must be lighter than the M50.

I'm having evil thoughts about a 7 series with LSx transplant now. I can't belive how cheap BMWs are getting these days, especially swede spec 318i's!

Progress-BMW 6 is now out. Looks like i need to move the ABS unit to make some room, relocate fuel filter, and weld some new mounts onto the subframe, for the eng mounts-If i do these forward, i'll be able to run pipes between the chassis rail and the steering column, which will save having to move the starter to the passenger side. I may have to move the heater controls forward aswell to get them out of the way.

Best bang for buck out there in the LS stuff. 6litre & the good heads.

Looking forward to see it progress.
