Just found some good news. In the USA, they have problems with booster clearance. I figured i'd have similar drama's but just on the opposite side.
But since the BMW 6cyl's lay right over to the RHS, they pushed the master cyl and booster over further on the RHD models(Also due to fuse box being on LHS firewall), that gives me more clearance and less jobs to do. You can see the difference in the pics below.

Just picked up my T56 It weighs double what the getrag was....

Bloody brilliant idea I'm impressed to see how low the LS1 sits in the E36 engine bay in those pics too.

Not much happening until i source a motor...
I picked up the T56. (pic 1360) going to need a different shifter to bring it further forward.
I have had a mount made for the abs, and cut off the std mount from the inner chassis rail, i'll move it backwards and out to make more room for exhaust on the passenger side. (pic 1357 & 1358)
I've cut the heater controls and mount off the firewall, and moved it right over under the fuse box, this gives alot more room in that area. I plan to run the hoses for this tomorrow. (I pic 1359, where the red circle is where it was factory, it is now where the mount is in the red box).

Pic1361, you can see how there are 'ears' off the subframe for the factory engine mounts, E30's had them on the front, and the whole subframe otherwise looks very similar. So i think i'll measure it all up and maybe use a E30 subframe, if not i'll cut the ears off, and get new ones put in front. This will allow room for the exhaust (at least 3 of the 4 pipes) to run between the chassis and steering shaft, and save having to move the starter to the LHS ($800+).

Yes the donor car is in excellent condition which will make it very nice. Only 145,000 km's, which for the germans is just run in....

I'm doing a conversion in my E30 at the same time which is killing some time:knock:

Came across a LS1 5.7 that was too good to go past, so i grabbed that. I hope to organise my clutch and sump this week, so i can start dropping it in situ and start making mounts etc.
Loom and ecu will go to Dale to get a tune, it will hopefully get a nice set of 4into1 pipes. I'm not 100% sure if i should drop a cam in it or not yet....

So, assuming a 3100 pound full weight M3, and a stock 350 hp Camaro LS1 (stock, but with our long tubes it should make 330 whp at least) you should see low low 12s. With the typical LS1 mods (cam, LS6 intake) and ~360 whp it'll dip into the 11s. There's LOTS of weight that's removable in the E36 and 2800 pounds should be fairly easy to achieve, with sound deadening removal and lighter seats. 450 whp is also easy to do with the stock shortblock (ported heads, bigger cam) so the 10 second zone is probably attainable going that route. Our Beta car has goals of 2500 pounds and 550 whp, with 315mm tires. If it can't run low 10s then we're doing something way wrong.
Quote from a site in the US that has done quite a few LS E36's.:w:

Have a look at my LS1 conversion re shifter . Rip shifter enables removel of the extended linkage holden use which moves the shifter around 10cm forward . It mounts directly to gear box and simply modify a gear stick to suit desired position . Ive got a couple of spares if required.

When you are finished this, you should sell it to me.

I picked up my rear Camaro sump today, so i hope to lower the engine/box into the car over the next few days and start to look into mounts etc. I may have to modify this slightly so i can get the motor as far back and as low as possible-might be a bit too big in std form.
I have been working on my other BMW while i've been collecting parts for this one, and have finally finished it's subframe/susp/wheel upgrade (It has a alloy block 2.8 24V late model BM motor in it).
