I thought the commo was tight and that was after i flipped the starter and im runing 4>2>1's for clearence reasons . 4>1 is an option for the commo but leaves zero room for error and clearencing required , it looks very tight on the bmw but im sure you know it will fit and pics proberly make it look harder to fit than what it is . Have you got some of the extractor pipe size around to do a quick check for clearence?

Yeah, i have some offcuts of 2" pipe through there, and i'm only using 1 7/8th pipe for the actual pipes, so it will fit-just.

        Subframe/engine mounts done

Just need to be cleaned up and powdercoated.

All steel is 6mm plate, and the pipe is 5mm wallthickness.

Had it check over by a Mech engineer, who was happy with it, but wanted the extra braces put on.

They are on different angles due to the steering being on 1 side, and also to allow the exhaust run where it should.

They are almost a copy of what a US based company did, but with some changes. My dad's a Mech Engineer, and he didn't like some aspects of what they did, so we made some changes, he estimates mine are about 300-400% stronger. The whole assembly is rock solid.

I have seen some real shocking ways of doing this conversion.

I've gone two diff ways with my cars. The E30 uses the std crossmember and I fabricated a custom mount using a suspension bush and std Aristo 2jz alloy mounts.

The E32 I used the factory crossmember and mounts and made custom 50x5 SHS steel mounts to bolt to the block.

              I like what you've done...

Thanks guys. I'm keen to get this thing done, hopefully no later than April.

Almost ready to go and get the exhaust done-Slowly but surely going in the right direction.

Once it gets back from getting the exhaust done, it will all come out. All lines will be cad plated, exhaust ceramic coated, and any steel fab work including subframe will get powdercoated. Motor will get a real good wash, as will engine bay.

Thinking about this today, it reminds me alot of a Torana that my brother had when i was 14, Small car, with big motor. (Hope it doesn't drive like a torana...)

                        Mounts look fanstastic...strong as.

However, what's the vibration going to be like using such firm bushes?

Should be fine, some of the conversions in the states have very firm urethane bushes, and they say it is fine. Worse case senario, i can pull the urethane, and use the std rubber bushes, which will absorb move vibration. I'll find out soon enough i guess.

                            Thanks-They are 19x8 Koya inox-shadow black.

I'm actually looking to replace them soon, with the factory BMW style 230 that comes out on the new 335i-still a 19" 5 spoke design.

With 6mm plate, its not going anywhere in a hurry. Ive removed more gen III's from commodores then ive had hot dinners but just wondering how easy you are finding it to install and remove over and over..?
