No ideaOriginally posted by clutch-monkey View Postfml, on my car i can't even figure out the heater controls
gonna be trouble fixing the connector?
At the moment, the relay and fuse are removed, so there isn't any fire-hazard.
But in a 964, Porsche simplified the HVAC controls. So instead of having levers, dials and knobs on the dash, the console and next to the handbrake
you just have this:

The dial on the left regulates temp, the one on the right is fans speed, and the sliders in the middle split air between the floor/vents/screen. The problem is, while Porsche made the controls simpler, behind the scenes it seems like they made the mechanical side a lot more complex. There's heaps of sensors, servos, fans etc. There's even a weird climate control unit with a little fan on it that it uses for sampling cabin temp. And all that stuff is now 20yrs old and deciding it wants to retire.
Replacing that melted connector doesn't look too bad...assuming I can find one for less than a gazillion dollars

So...unbolt the plastic bracket that holds the connectors, wiggle the female spade terminals out of the dead plug (and maybe replace the burnt one), jam the spades into a new plug, bolt back in place....profit?Originally posted by peal View PostIt looks like you can replace the connector easy enough, it appears to un-bolt. I would do that.Japanese Nostalgic Car - Dedicated to classic japanese cars

my windscreen fogs up, cue panicked pulling of levers and sliding of random buttonsOriginally posted by Babalouie View Post

when T&D split pretty much their entire lot of second hand parts got loaded into shipping containers and sold off to a shop in sydney (no idea why), so i dare say you'll be able to find your part down thereOriginally posted by Babalouie View PostReplacing that melted connector doesn't look too bad...assuming I can find one for less than a gazillion dollars

Interesting...Autohaus Hamilton has a shipping container sitting in its parking lot...Japanese Nostalgic Car - Dedicated to classic japanese cars

Did Old Pac the past couple of weekends. Great long run, but there's been quite a lot of cyclists and traffic on it recently. Putty is great but is a bit of a hike from my place (Old Pac is maybe 15mins from my door). Wisemans is alright if you like hairpinsOriginally posted by XXX19X View PostNice car! Where are some good roads to take a drive in the early hours?
Old Pac, Wisemans, Palm Beach and Putty Road are alrite. Anything better?
and Palm Beach just has the Bilgola Bends and the rest is a bit so-so.
Basically Old Pac is the best, if only you can get a clean run

Here's an interesting solution

Carrera Cup cars did away with the heater blower, and just had this bypass pipe instead
Apparently there's still plenty of heat, just less airflow (and rpm-dependent airflow at that, since it's the engine driven fan that pushes the hot air into the cabin!). Saves 4kg and de-clutters the engine bay
This RS heater bypass pipe is available and isn't that exxy I spose .Japanese Nostalgic Car - Dedicated to classic japanese cars
