At Mercedes we used to pressure bleed the brakes, and clutches using something similar to this:
ALWAYS got a good pedal, not to mention used a shit load of brake fluid!
Yes, I've just ordered one of these: http://www.motiveproducts.com/ Looks like a home/DIY version of that massive gizmo you posted
Fill up the bottle, and it uses compressed air to push the fluid out of the bottle, and through the master. Not very expensive, less than US$50, but for some reason, I couldn't find anything similar locally. I figure if I use it to push 500ml through the whole system that should kill any bubbles stone dead...
From reading more threads on the 911 forum, it seems that hydraulics aren't a Porsche strong suit, and some ppl say that when you bleed brakes you'll need 3.5L to get all the airlocks out
The cheapy air powered bleeders are convenient but may not get all the air out, but at least gets you most of the way there. Just don't blow through too much fluid thinking it will eventually come good (at least that is my experience).
When I first got the 911, it came with er...these rubber mats
I figured I'd get something nicer, and something that I've had my eye on for a long time for Hako were a set of Cocomats.
They're handmade from coconut fibre and are super thick. There are a zillion colour combinations to choose from, and I settled on black with grey dots
Maybe 20mm thick, with a heavy rubber backing so that they don't slip around. They have patterns for most euro cars, so finding a set for the 964 wasn't an issue. And they feel great!
Except for one problem. On the passenger side, the ecu lives under the seat...
And as you can see, with the carpet in place, the electric seat motors hang down a lot and there isn't much space in between.
The Cocomats have this tonque that slips under the seat, and they're so thick that it didn't fit in that gap.
I figured it was just something lost in translation to RHD, and a flipped LHD version of these mats would probably work just fine. But for RHD, that tongue part of the passenger mat has to be removed (where that strip of tape is above).
I sent some pics to Cocomat and they were very apologetic and offered to send me a modified mat free of charge, which they did a few days later!
Great guys to deal with, and I think it was something like A$280 delivered for a set of 4 mats (would be cheaper at today's FX rate too)
I mentioned I might want a set for the Hako, and naturally they don't have a set of templates for the Skyline in their files. So they're sending me some pattern paper to cut out a template, and they asked for some pics of the interior, so that they can send me some swatches of material, and they've recommended 3 possible colours which would work with the Hako. And all for the same price as what I paid for the 911 mats.
Can't recommend these guys enough, especially with USD$ things getting cheaper by the day Cool vid by Jay Leno btw
I think I had a similar set of rubber mats in the datshit 720, and thought they were nasty in that! How well do the new ones fit the floor and do they move around at all, I've got carpet mats in both cars and they shit me to tears with the amount they move around. The Rav has the genuine Toyota ones, actually the ones that were recalled due to all the problems in the US, and they actually don't fit properly!
