Alloy heads don't intrinsically make more power, you can get good quality heads in iron castings, such as the Dart Iron Eagle range. The benefit is that they are lighter and that they disipate heat better. Aluminium heads, new, are the same price as iron heads, so it is a no-brainer, unless you have a good set of iron heads.

IMO, Old chev castings are basically rubbish, and should only ever be used on mild engines in near standard form. You can make a set of double hump fuelies flow, but it will cost just as much in porting as it will to buy a decent cc good quality cast that can be used straight out of the box.

Gone away with work for a few weeks. I have put those 'rebuild chev' ebooks on a temporary FTP. Let me know if you want a copy and I'll send details.

We got sent a couple pics of a US car which is the same kit and was originally built in South Africa.

        A touch tidier than ours!

Lots of work to get it there - but really I think it's pretty doable!

Some paint and lots of carpet and you're half way there!

Turns out that car has some ghetto bits like ours. Wheels are actually the same sunrasia looking things as ours with knock off looking centres. Thats a little too rice for me I think!

Very nice car, subscribes to watch it unfoldeth...

I had the mispleasure of seeing one of these things meet a guardrail in spectacular fashion on the Centenary highway, near the Fig Tree Pocket exit... fibreglass everywhere, poor cunts....

I tried to help, but ended up making sweet love to what was left of it...

                    ^^ hahah....

Looking forward to this build for sure.

One of my favourite cars of all time for raw spooj factor. Was stoked to finally see some genuine ones running at the Bathurst event easter last year, in the flesh.

Jeez, I'd love to see a genuine one in the flesh. I was reading a build log the other day of a guy who is building an exact replica from scratch to match the original in every detail. Full monococque chassis and he is building every part by hand. Massive job, but nearly finished.

Willy, does the guy building the replica also have a C type jag replica built on a MK VII Jag chassis? Bill?

They are actually a "Halibrand" type wheel in those photos, period correct wheels. Bit different to Sunrasias

Will be watching this with interest

This is the reason I said it was a little bit too ricey.

To quote an email from the owner..
and your wheels are the same as mine. Although my car came with
fiberglass hub caps that are shaped like Halibrand wheel centers.
Many Cobra owners think that my wheels are real knock offs. Sometimes
I just let them believe and other times I show them that they are just
                            mock-ups

They're definitely quite convincing, at least in the photos!
