LOL at last photo...people think of the 70s Aussie cars as being land yachts, but the HQ is roughly VN sized IIRC

well after a year or so of doing nothing on this thing I started work on it again. Lost motivation for a bit and instead have just been going fishing and drinking, good times, but as I've discovered it wont make this thing build itself.
stripped and epoxy primed the RH doorjamb - this is a job I have put off doing since the last doorjamb.. what a PITA. Protip, get this done by a blaster if I ever rebuild another car again.

made a spring compressor tool - ghetto but it works.

disassembled the front. yewww! fun times.

onwards and upwards, RHR quarter next...

discussing this over at the aussiev8 forum, but what is PF's insights into wether I should keep the factory under bonnet look or go for a more modern approach?
From the factory it had a black firewall and inner guards, thinking about doing it all body colour - except for the rad support which will be black for sure.
need to really make a decision as the chassis is just about to leave for blasting and 2k, need to tell the painter gloss or satin 2k black.

nice one Morcs, that does look clean.
I think if I go body coloured firewall I will definitely do the inner guards as-well though.
Ke26 Wagon, interesting re: the radiator support that is what I wanted to avoid, having it in two colours.. not sure I like the look of them painted even on the top and especially if you can see the colour through the grill. hm.. small decisions but i'll have to live with it for sometime so want to make the right decision lol.

yeah I know what you mean, hence my drama with not knowing what to do.. I guess it depends on the colour.
just came across this too, looks very smart all black.

been a bit lazy last couple of weeks but been plugging away at a few things.
I am not one to shy away from letting people know i fucked something up - i fucked up painting the firewall the first time 18months ago. Didn't have enough coverage with the epotec. it looked ok but it was too patchy in a couple of spots and that allowed surface rust to begin, so zipped it back with some 320grit and that was enough to get rid of it, no pitting, etc. so reprimed it yesterday. grr annoyed with myself but what ya gonna do
plonked the motor in today as we're doing some reno's around the house and needed to consolidate everything back in to one package too, thats just in the temporarily.
edit: oh and for the trainspotters thats just a temp. chassis under it too, a late HX with RTS, but just under it until have the HQ one blasted and painted.
