T350 would be nice with the 327 and probably cheaper. T400s tend to be power sapping cunts and I've seen t350s take 600hp if you wanted to get it built at some stage for more power

Finally had a chance to have a play with this. Just striping it down a bit to find any suprises before I get too far into it (isnt this how all projects start....)

haven't found anything too scary yet although the passenger foot well has been welded in by a blind man with parkinsons. wondering wether its worth the fuck around fixing it or just buying another $70 rust repair panel and redoing it. on the plus the rest of the floor looks mint.

And ding ding ding, this why you dont, 1) use underlay on an old car in the tropics, and 2)especially do this on an unprepped bare metal panel... grr..

yes, i do have a bit of a talent for blowing up gearboxen tho...

but pretty sure i will go a 350 for now, see how it goes, any suggestions on a reputable company to buy a good running stocker from? plenty to choose from in the parts peddler but never dealt with any of 'em

Insured? Can get layed up insurance that covers unreg cars as long as car is not under it's own power at time of incident

gotta tell ya, tough old cars the ol' HQ's though. Heavy chunk of a tree, i struggled to lift it once i chainsawd it off and really only very minor damage.
Boothy - working through that now.

Considering I'm not really an HQ fan, I've caught myself trawling for an HQ Statesman-HZ Premier wagon lately. Only to find one of the relos on nopics' side just got rid of their 308/4 speed HZ Premier wagon, traded it for a Yaris FFS!

Gay! Fucking trees… having said that it would have trashed a newer car. Oh well time to paint it red

ughh its happening... slowly. fuck i hate bodywork and I hate rust even more.
i wish i was loaded and could just take it to someone to fix all this shit... but.. i dont.. so on with more hammering and grinding.

comments/criticism welcome cos i'm new to this rust repair shit. i'll get some better pics of it tomorrow when i cut the panel and weld it in.

got sick of doing shitty body work after that rust section. dunno turned out ok i guess, needs a bit of filler but im not too worried as you cant see it behind the bumper.

so anyway, put a bid on this immaculate HSV SV90 at the auctions the other day... well unfortunately it ended up in my driveway.
whats even worse is it's boxy charm is growing on me. so i need to get the parts i want off it before i decide to fix it or something similarly retarded.

plan is to lift motor/tranny out and either 1)bolt TH700 to the small block chev i have, or 2)bolt 304/th700 in complete as it is.
dunno which way to go. i kinda like the sound of cammed 304's.

Does the SV90 have scheel seats? If so: I vote to gut the seats and fit them to the Q'ey as a first step.

Just a thought: maybe go restomod on this? efi 304, aircon, rack and peanut, modern seats with retro houndstooth trim. Orig paint and stripes.
