XT Falcon project

Picked this up last year, farm fresh!
1968 XT 500. Has some wierd options like electric tailgate glass, underbody protection, GT front/driving lights (had), D-pillar winglets.
Not sure how long it had been sitting, as it was a deceased estate. But considering some of the original rims on it still had crossplys, id say probably hasnt been driven in 25 years.

Im going to leave the surface rust as is, has an awesome ratrod/patina look to it.
It looks worse than it is, bit of rust in the floors, sills and bonnet. But otherwise its not too bad, nothing around the roof, windscreen or pillars.
Driver's door was straight until the muppet towing it got the door caught on another car, bending it all the way back.

Nice, I'll be over soon to collect it. It's also got Fairmont trim strips, be interesting to know it's history. We had an XT Fairmont wagon when I was a kid,for some reason I've always wanted one, car became a speedway car in Woomera.

There is a guy up here doing a retroruster. HG ute with patina/rust/dings. Bought a smashed VP calais and is swapping as much as possible (incl interior) over but leaving it as is outside. Lift the bonnet and polished alloy/powdercoating abound

Love to put an XR6T drivetrain in it, just not sure how rego and all that BS would go.
Interior isnt all that flash, back seat looks ok but It will probably fall apart as soon as you touch it.
Hoping to get the door fixed, going to get some pics to a panel beater mate and see what he reckons.

What size engine did this come with? I presume you didn't luck the V8 option. I assume it is a column shift?

Am a bit of a fan of the XT - friends had a white sedan when I was a kid, it was the newer model, as my folks had an XP. But still had the cool round tail lights unlike the ugly XY type lights.

Agree, I'm not big on XW/XY rear lights, and in general the 'larger' appearance compared to XR/XT.

This car is awesome, look forward to seeing the build.

I'd be fucking hell pissed about that door. I hope you at least got the tow for free.
