Not something I'd expect on a precision machined part that partly engages, but you know how it is; as they say, stranger things...

Either that or hitting the inner bushing in the housing. Will throw some micrometers on because it wouldn't take much.

Are you running MAP as your primary load source in the Motec? General Setup -> Main Setup -> Efficiency Calc Method -> 4? It might be worth setting up with TPS as your Efficiency Calc Method then using MAP as a compensation table to smooth things out a bit.
I don't really like Commodores, but this thing is fucking epic.

Haha cheers mate. Yep it's TPS / Map combo at the moment. 9th injector is Aux 1 with its own table, also.

I had a similar issue, turned out to be a small mark on the gearbox output shaft stopping the new one going on further.

Do you have another box to try it it?

Should be able to find a Turbo 400 or T5 output shaft relatively easily.

Back to the shaft builders. Sure enough it WAS the OD. ZF being a rare oddball runs a slightly different internal bush variation and the thousandth or so it was larger to the original means it wouldn't clear it.

On a regular Turbo 400 mandrel they are identical - the Sonnax an even better fit being newer. But on the micrometers, tiny enough that a quick linish will make it perfect.

Pretty fucked for choice in Sydney when they finish up

Ahh what a shit! Hopefully it'll get sorted

This is obviously assuming all your AUX outputs are doing something. Ie idle control, and the other does water spray, and the other updates your Instagram automatically etc.

Yeah, they sold the business and are employees but I got the impression not for much longer. Probably why the yoke was free lol

Oh yeah, Dana / Hardy Spicer bought them out. But would think they'd be retaining the business even for servicing purposes, as from race cars to heavy industries, no matter where you are in Aus you can take your numbered shaft in for spec' repairs, and it's Sydney's only variant. They're good blokes from a good family-owned business so you'd hope they are retained.

There are a couple of other shops around, but yeah, SDS have always had a great rep, plenty of runs on the board. Plus I think pretty reasonably priced. This thing wasn't exactly cheap, but Mal Wood in QLD quoted me nearly double.

                          Meatball game = that's a spicey-a.

Now let the exhaust modifications to suit the spaced and beefy tailshaft begin. One pipe down, one more to go.

Unsatisfying and just lays there on all fours in a constant state of unfinished dissatisfaction no matter how many times you keep coming back to it, nor how much you spend on it? Plus gives your hands a friction rash every time you work on it?

In either case, that's the most quotable thing anyone has probably said about any car I've ever owned. Haha, so cheers!
That's awesome. And so's the car, good to see it progressing (and hear it)

                              Thanks bud!

If you need any demonstration of how violent the thing is... kick it over on the new exhaust, just run it up to temp on jack stands, and it completely shakes tight bolts clean off threads. Naturally, a nyloc will live here for posterity, but for ease of use just use regular bolts when dummying up. Still makes me laugh though. That's a lot of thread to clear! Still pornographically / obnoxiously / satanically loud with the extra length. Took a few db out, not much.

New coil also is mint. No stalling, perfect throttle response, just a tad more idle and it'll be golden.

Finally started (after putting off) finishing and modifying the new exhaust to suit the bigger tailshaft. Those big uni's and centre mount take up some space to clear - just in case. Fucking pain in the ass doing entire exhaust without a hoist.

Hit laziness head on and spent an hour or two retro-fitting my MIG gun to the old boy's machine and put the cheap one in the well deserved trash heap. Good to give the grinder a rest again and get some cleaner welds. Had also been putting that off.

All cleaned up ready for Hi Octane HPC.

I really must stress the "if this doesn't clear, nothing will / will kill some kent"-ness of the situation.
